yes i have heard of oil but u cant relie solely on 1 resource. Think about what would happen it that resource ran out, ur economy would be in the shitter.lol and trust me no offense to Americans but I HATE BUSH!! Now that whole topic of invading countries for oil I aggree that the Americans have done this, but Not America as a whole, just certain individuals. I'm just saying that I'm not going to hate an entire country and everyone living in it because of the mistakes some of its ppl have made.

I know, but many many countries with valuable and widespread resources are poor because they have been exploited in an imperialistic fashion (at one point or another, not just the US by any means). It isn't the 'luck of the draw' so much as the skill of your opponent. Resigning the fortunes of a nation purely to its resources whilst ignoring any kind of political context is ridiculous. If that were the case a fair few of the most powerful countries in the world would be middle-eastern or sub-saharan African nations... But they're not funnily enough. We fucked em over and we still do to this day.RugbyFX wrote:yes i have heard of oil but u cant relie solely on 1 resource. Yes I aggree with u, im just saying that its not like its every american doing this, its just certain individuals, I wont hate an entire country based on the actions taken by these ppl. But I do see where ur comming from. I'm actually more on the side of the ppl against the states but only in some aspects.

I'm not arguing that bit, I'm arguing the bit where you decided the fortune of a country was based solely on resources.RugbyFX wrote:Yes I aggree with u, im just saying that its not like its every american doing this, its just certain individuals, I wont hate an entire country based on the actions taken by these ppl. That doesnt decide the fortune of a country in full but its is a major factor which should be considered

Way to destroy the page cocksucker.

You cant rely on it, but if you have clever high-ranked people you can use it to your advantage. Look at UAE and Qatar. They both have very modern cities (Dubai and Doha), which were mainly funded by oil revenues, but using that money they are investing in the country to make it less reliant on oil, and to become competitors in other markets. Other countries such as Bahrain have leaders who are too greedy, and want to keep the oil revenue rather then invest it and get greater return long term.yes i have heard of oil but u cant relie solely on 1 resource
Obviously natural resources matter to a countries economic position, but look at China. They are importing their main resources needed for industry from elsewehre, but still have a booming economy and are becoming a large power on the economic front. I think you need to take into account all the different resources (labour, money, raw materials etc..) and also the education of the population, and the better both are the more chance of success that country has economic wise. Having resources but an uneducated population (ie. 19th Century Africa) would make you a prime target for imperialism. Having an educated population but little resources means that you need to work really hard to become successful, but it is possible.

It isn't just bush...during the cold war America had dozens of missions were they just went to another country and overthrew the government for some reason. For example, In the fifties there was a company called United Fruit Company (or something like that) that bought most of the land in central america used to grow fruit. However they only used about ten percent of it to grow fruit, the rest was just 'acquired', essentially preventing independent farmers from growing their crops. This caused UFC to be the only company growing fruit in that region. They raised the price, alot.RugbyFX wrote:yes i have heard of oil but u cant relie solely on 1 resource. But then the leader of guatemala decides to give the land that isn't being used back to the people. The US said this was an act of communism, and attacked. Fifty years later, the country is still fucked up to the bones.
American dream for you right there.

americans are alright, sire they are arrogant, at the moment they have a lot to be arrogant about. they are the best at practically everything. however i regret to tell you this is swiftly changing. give asia 30 years and well be miles ahead of ya. especially since americans are becoming scared of losing their top dog status and are going down the road of protectionism for there economy. this is just gonna make it all the quicker for asia (china) to overtake them faster. ah well. we all have our day which eventually must pass

talking to me or the monrepos? feiterman, and yeah the americans are good at most things, this could be disputed case by case, obviously other countries will be better at some things (like russia and gymnastics
) but generally the americans do well for themselves.

Because it technically isn't a war, it's a police action.feiterman wrote:Where the F*uck are you from, and plus asswipe why would you change presidents in the middle of a warMonRepos wrote:Best at practically everything?!?!?!?!?! Seriously?
They re-elected Bush. Enough said.
Besides America won't be the world superpower for more than twenty years unless we do a turnaround, India is now giving out more PhD's, so their future generation will be smarter than ours.

Feiterman, its hardly a war. Calling that a war is disgracing the names of soldiers who have died in worthy wars and battles which have been fought for a real purpose. No discredit to the people wh olost their lives in Iraq, but that is like Unriggable said, a police action. It was a war until Baghdad fell, which was in about a month wasn it? Since then its been keeping the calm and fighting insurgency, ie, police action.
