The other kind. I tested it on a game without any snapshots yet taken (no issues with BOB in those), took a snapshot, and then that game would have the same issue start.

With a lot of my games being foggy, it's certainly annoying to lose the functions of BOB.

Reinstalled BOB and GM for the 3rd time, now it seems to work okay, so far.

Is anybody else still having problems with bob in fog? I really can't seem to trust it anymore, and keep on checking back with the main site stats for confirmation of territ. counts.

Maybe it's safer for me to upgrade greasemonkey?

Can't update to FF4 (requires OSX 10.5+). Manually changed FF 3.6.13 settings so latest copy of GM could install. Now BOB doesn't load (install button is blue, but does nothing when clicked). Any ideas?

Not really, this just raises questions to me, like why do you have to change FF settings to install GM? I think most people are still on FF3.6, so I think it should still work. Do you have this with all scripts, or only BOB?

That shouldn't be related, I think. So far it's only before a player played or nuclear games that could be wrong. Which means I stil calculate the start territory amount wrong in some cases..

current calculation:
easy way -> amount of troops that are not neutral / amount of players (or 3 if 2 players)
with starting positions -> amount of territories in starting position * number of starting positions per player + amount of non neutrals in not given away countries / amount of players (or 3 if 2 players)

Hmm, starting to remember something, maybe the not given away starting positions are not divided to 3 players (including neutral) in a 2-player game, but to 2 players.. I'll try to check that now.

Sherkaner, this problem is not related to only 2 player games and not only to nuke games either. It's a problem I've seen in 4, 5, and 8 player escalating assassin and standard games. It's one that I've had for a long time now that only seems to be affecting others recently.

GM now looks at (or always did) user agent. In Mac FF 3.6.13, user agent FF rev is 2.0.0.2 not 3.6.13. There is a FF Rev element, but I don't think most javascript are familiar with it. So I configed it to 3.6.13 and the latest version of GM installed. But BOB still doesn't install. Like I said in my earlier quote, Install button is blue but does nothing when checked.

couple questions about BOB

Postby Dukasaur on Wed Feb 09, 2011 10:21 pm

I finally managed to get Firefox working on my computer, so now I'm trying BOB, and have a couple quick questions.

1. What does the "Regions / calc" column show?

2. What exactly does the "Spoils Estimate" show and what is it based on?

(No, I'm not lazy. I have looked at the BOB help file, but I haven't found it.)

Regions/calc shows how many regions your opponent has (that you can see) and the calc is how many they actually have, hidden by fog. This is actually all available in the game log, but much neater and more organized in BOB.

Spoils estimate is a rough estimate of the opponents spoils... I don't use it too much, but it takes into account the likelihood the opponent has a set of cards and how much it would be worth on cash in.

BOB stopped working on my mac book when I tired updating. I uninstalled it, now I can't reinstall it either. The install button lights up but nothing happens. I even tried reinstalling grease monkey with no luck. Running OSX 10.6.6.

Dukasaur, here is the actual BOB Help information, but you have a point, the wording of the help does not correspond well to the actual text on the game page. The differences correspond to changes in official Conquer Club terminology: what were termed "territories" are now "regions" and what were "cards" are now "spoils". In addition, "continents" have become "zones". Maybe BOB's developer could do a little cleanup on the Help screen. I will merge this topic into the main BOB topic, so sherkaner is more likely to see it.
BOB's Help Screen (emphasis mine) wrote:Stats : Standard | Extended | Off
Adds a statistics report under the map. Adds a link above the report to toggle the display of the statistics between "fixed statistics" and "scrollable statistics".
The Standard report includes the following for each player; number of cards, number of missed turns, number of armies, number of territories, armies received last, armies due, deferred armies due and continents held.
The Extended report includes all Standard statistics and adds the following for each player; number of armies as a percentage of all the armies on the map, number of territories as a percentage of all territories on the map, player strength indicator, the calculation of armies due showing each of the three elements - (T) bonuses for total territories held, (C) bonuses for continents held and [TB] single territory bonuses - and a card set estimate.
The Extended report also follows the number of territories with either a hyphen (-) or a number of asterisks (*). The number of asterisks indicates the number of territories the player must lose to reduce the armies due by one. A hyphen indicates that the number of armies due cannot be reduced further simply by losing territories.
About the number of territories
In non Fog of War games the "Territories" column shows the total territories held for each player. In Fog of War games the column is renamed "Territories [Calc]" and shows the number of visible territories held followed by the total number of territories held in square brackets. This total number is calculated by scanning the Game Log and so is only accurate when the full Game Log is loaded.

About the continents held information
Lists the names of continent bonuses held with the value in round brackets (C) and the names of auto deploy territory bonuses held with the value in square brackets [TB].
About the player strength indicator
Player strength is calculated using the following formula:
Total Armies + (Armies Due x Missed Turns) + (Probability of Holding Card Set x Card Set Value) - (2/3 x Territories Held)
About the card set estimate
The card set estimate is calculated using the following formula:
(Probability of Holding Card Set x Card Set Value) + (6 x Probability of Holding Card Set x (Territories Occupied / Total Territories on Map))

I don't like the colored lines actually, they will probably be removed with the next update :p, and I'll check the stats updater.

Looks like this is a bug in greasemonkey, you probably have growl installed but not running:

When the new CC_Clickable was created, I turned indicators "off".... along with it, BOB's colouring of the pull-down of where to attack lost its colour. (ie., where it normally shows the colour of the enemy who currently holds the territory.)

I haven't changed any CC_Clickable settings, but I noticed the loss of colour in the pulldowns and the loss of troop counts on the Reinforce To menu. In general, some menus look right, at least to begin with, but they seem to revert to the site default look under some circumstances.

Yeah, basically. It adds a layer to the map, and you click that layer in stead of the territories the main site clickies checks. So the clicks on the map don't seem to work.

Thats pretty useful actually.
I've noticed bob also prevents middle-click from beginning turn automatically? For similar reasons I presume?
Everything else pretty much works as it should.

Bob 5 . 1. 4 -- needs to be activated EVERY time I enter a m

Postby ElricTheGreat on Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:29 am

in the past few hours I have noticed that Bob keeps getting turned off ... each time I go into a map I have to click on the START BOB link in upper right of my screen in the same area that tells :

[refresh map] [map size] [colour codes] [side stats] [indicators] [Start Bob]

until I clink the link ... all the chat looks funny bcus I use Screen shots so they are long lines until Bob sets them back looking like normal .. also all the other Bob features are off as well. I am currently using 5.1.4

I hope this isn't too obvious, but have you got Auto BOB turned on? It's the third item in the BOB Menu over there on the left. Maybe you accidentally turned it off.

Hello,

Just wondering if there is any word on a workaround for the lost colors and troop numbers in the drop down menu after the clicky update? I posted a few times in that thread, but was told to come here.

Thanks!

Maybe i will get used to this new feature but so far I'm a skeptic. I updated to 4.7 and typing A/Q to shift 10 units still does not work all the time. This seems more of a hindrance to speed games as you can not quickly deploy ONE unit or spam place a few units quickly between different regions. I'm not sure if I would have won the few games this has messed me up but there was definitely a chance. Reinforcing still has its bugs too. You can not easily click one region and send to another. Be sure to see what boxes are highlighted on the map because those are the regions you will reinforce from/into regardless of what the scroll-down menu says. Very frustrating on chain or adjacent maps. Is there going to be a feature to use the old clicky map version? That would be very nice.
