I was just thinking that this would be nice. If you have a speed game up in another tab or another window and you are doing other things, it would be nice if there was a sound to tell you that its your turn.
SUG: Turn Start Sound
Concise description:
- At the start of each players turn, a sound will be played. This tone will alert them that they can start their turn.
- When the turn starts a tone plays, maybe CC could provide a few pleasant ones to pick from.
- Players will be able to walk away from the computer or do something on another screen while they wait for their turn.
- This will really be useful in speed games when people would like to walk away from the computer or do something else on the internet for a few minutes. But if the player before them suddenly ends their turn quicker than expected valuable time or a whole turn could be missed.

As long as it is an option that we can turn on/off then I have no issue with it. But if it was mandatory I probably would never log on again, hate being forced to hear stuff I didn't choose just as much as lack hates pop-up.

The conquertell script (for firefox) that I have installed has the sound option I believe you are looking for

What I do is have msn open, have the option to send emails to you when it's your turn and you'll receive a pleasant sound, from msn, that it is your turn.

The problem is, the page would have to be refreshed constantly to check if it's your turn. Because a static page won't know when someone else has played their turn. So if the page was lets say refreshed once every 1 minute... that is a ton of page loads and still if you are playing a 5 minute speed game then it would only give you 4+ minutes to make a move, depending on when the page was last refreshed.
It would be easier to use one of the work-arounds mentioned:
- alternative script
- have your email software open and put a sound to that, this way when the game emails you then your email browser will make a sound for having a new email... this will be instant for you.

Concise description: A tone/beep that you can turn on that sounds when it's your turn.

- The tone wouldn't be a default, just something optional people could click if they want it.

You can have a PM automatically sent to you that informs you a Speed game you were waiting to be filled has just started, and it provides a link to the game. That's what I use.

Is there anyway you guys could add some sound effect or like a DING to let us know when it is our turn for a speed game. It is annoying to randomly check every 5 mins and I feel tied down to the computer. The user, the user's opponents, and the game would be played much more efficiently with less time wasted for all parties when you know it is your turn.
When I play a speed game with 5 players, I realize that it is not my turn right away, so I go about doing other things, surf the web, facebook, AIM and sometimes forget about the game. Having a sound notification would benefit me because I can immediately stop what I am doing and play the game. In, addition players would not have to wait an extra 5 minutes for NOTHING to happen if I miss my turn.

This is for all the people who always forget about their speed games. I love this suggestion! For those people who have their sound muted off, how about a pop-up letting you know it's your turn? I've seen other game sites do that.

A pop-up, sure. A sound effect, no thanks.
One of the things I love about this site is the lack of those repetitive noises you find over the internet. Even if the sounds were optional, the site wouldn't feel quite the same.
In fact, you can already change your Game Settings so that when one of your speed games starts you get a PM to announce the fact.

I would like this button, please. I haven't played speed in a while, but I like having multiple windows open when I am gaming. I'd even buy premium again if this button were included. I can see how I'd need to turn it off at times, but most of the time I would turn it on and scan other sites.

Yes, I see that. Also mentioned that in my post. The ones that were rejected seemed to be focused upon sounds that are unrestricted.
