New Battle Royale game type
Subject: New Tournament style Battle Royale games
* Replace the current Battle Royale format with a completely new game type that rewards outlasting your opponents and finishing well.
Body:
* One of the major "problems" with the BR is that a winner takes all format gives too big of a reward for getting first place
* Terminator games are not an ideal solution because they make the end of the game rather unimportant, and it puts a target on the back of all players with a high score.
* My idea: Instead of winner takes all, break up the points in the pot among the top players. First place still gets the most, but you get a smaller reward for outlasting opponents (similar to pay outs in poker tournaments).
One example of possible point rewards for a 113 person BR
1. 20%
2. 15%
3. 12%
4. 9%
5. 7%
6. 6%
etc.....and you just play around with it until the numbers work out nicely. The 20% start is arbitray of course, but the idea is that after the game first place wouldn't shoot to first on the scoreboard but would still be rewarded handsomely. And all players would be encouraged to last as long as possible (since the rewards get better and better) so they would still play with good strategy. It would also encourage attacking so you don't end up with stalemates like at the end of BR 2.
Before anyone points it out- I know that my first post on this site was a rant about how in Risk nothing other than first deserves a reward, and that all losers are equal. So maybe I'm a hypocrite. But I think the Battle Royale is a different beast, and lasting a long time but not winning is still an accomplishment. It would also be cool because you could get rewards for good consistent play (example: someone might be able to say "I've never won the whole thing but I made it into the top 10 3 times!!")

Re: New Battle Royale game type
Bump. I'm tired of making Terminator games for BR's, and as stated before that makes players kill others based on score. Let's get some new discussion and thoughts on this.

That's why I bumped it to the top. Hopefully we can get some more input and make a decision.qwert wrote:what 3 years old sugestion, and still not decide where these go-to rejected,or to acepted sugestions?

Good bump, this is an interesting idea. Could this maybe be an option for games? Or just stick to Battle Royals?

I like the idea...probably as an alternate option to the current format? That way people can continue to go with their current game play as well if they want... So for Battle Royale there could be 'winner-take-all' and '(can't think of a name right now)'
