It is often said the Classic map is the best on the site, and I don't disagree. When the Classic map went away for a remodel, there was a lot of anger, but some folks discovered other maps that featured similar gameplay.
One of the things that makes up similar gameplay is the number of territories on the Classic map - 42.
There are 19 other maps featuring 42 territories and while they don't all feature the exact same gameplay, they are close.
So, here is a tournament featuring the 20 maps with 42 territories.
This tournament will feature 64 players making up eight groups of eight.
You will play an eight-man escalating game on each of the 20 maps featuring 42 territories.
Scoring will be 10 points to the winner, 7 points to second place (the last eliminated), 6 points to third place and so on.
The top four scorers in each group will advance, where you will play all 21 maps again in each of the four rounds.
If multiple players are tied with the same score, a tie-breaker game will be played with the same settings with all the players tied.
If two players are tied, the first tie-breaker will be most wins in that group, then most second places, then most thirds, then most fourths, then most fifths, then most sixths, then most sevenths, then if they are still somehow tied, we will go to points in the previous round (if there is one) or have a 1v1 game with the same settings on the Classic map.
If a player that is advancing suddenly become freemium, then the next highest score in that group will advance.
