As I've said, I don't think India or Nusa are worth more than 3, or South America more than 5.declan.west wrote:what are peoples thoughts on bonuses?

Re: Gondwanaland
Ah, but if you look at India and Nusa, 2 of their borders are to one territory, thus easily reducing their borders by 1 each, while in Antarctica you can;t do that. In fact, there are a couple of Antarctica's border territories that border more than one territory. I think the upped bonus is justified. The Bison King wrote:What?! no way, that's too much.5. Which is why I think India and Nusa should be reduced rather than Antarctica increased.

Re: Gondwanaland
But see, then Terra Australis would be much easier to take for a +3 than India or Nusa. And you can't reduce Terra Australis' bonus because there are other +2's easier to take. I still stand by Antarctica's bonus raised. Look at Europe in Classic - 7 territories, 4 borders; not far off from Antarctica.Evil DIMwit wrote:Which is why I think India and Nusa should be reduced rather than Antarctica increased.

Re: Gondwanaland
As an upcoming geologist i really like this idea !
Re: Gondwanaland
I like it. To be a bit nit-picky...there were not humans at the time of Gondwanaland so no canoes.
On a more serious note, did you consider added Madagascar and Sir Lanka?

Re: Gondwanaland
Alrighty, we need some spellcheck on the map. Here's what I'm seeing:
Title Text: Be careful of the dinosaurs
Bonus Description: Attack the ancient city of Atlantis from any canoe to gain access to the other canoes around Gondwana. But Beware, the spirits of the dead city will not allow you to stay there...
Otherwise:
- I'm having difficulty seeing Central Africa and Terra Australis, the color is too bright compared to the parchment and it looks smudged anyway.
- I think the canoe bonus is a little bit big considering the need to attack Atlantis first. +4 or +3 would be better.
- The internal bodies of water are a different color from the ocean and instead of denoting them as landlocked they just look off.
- Kideny is very difficult to see with the territory line. Perhaps putting some small glow on every territory name so they stand out from the map?

Good. This is one of the historical periods we've been lacking maps from---pre-history!

i have been trying to draw a good bridge but the trouble is they are just to small to get in any good detail. are there some good examples of bridges on another map?

Re: Gondwanaland
Version 6
things that have been changed:
-Antarctica has an extra region named Ciateur, as of the need to change its bonus I think the best option was to add an extra region and change it to +5 bonus. This was because reducing nusa/india's bonuses would not work and previously antarctica was not equal to north africa (in my opinion)
-The region in india called 'dec' has been modified slightly to be more realistic of the shape of Gondwana.
-Lakes/inland seas have changed colour to match the outer sea
-A canoe has been added to Travi in north africa.
-The bonus for all canoes has been reduced to +4
-Other slight variations/touch ups

Re: Gondwanaland
What's up with territories like "Dinosauria" (why in low case?) and "Awosomia"? They sound kinda cheesy...
How did you come up with territory names, anyway?

Re: Gondwanaland
well a lot were influenced by friends telling me to name particular places particular things and as i'm not so great at names or have much reference to go off a lot are very random. i agree some are quite cheesy. i will probably end u changing a few, thx for pointing out the lower case d.natty_dread wrote:What's up with territories like "Dinosauria" (why in low case?) and "Awosomia"? Re: Gondwanaland
Perhaps go for a different naming convention on different continents. eg. (assuming Antarctica has a cold climate) Russian/Slavic names with Z's and R's. Australia could have Aboriginal sounding names like Ogaroona.

Re: Gondwanaland
i like your idea 00icon, ill give it a go. I sort of wanted to avoide names the match current place names today. ill try find info on the earlist cutlures in particualr areas and that could help with naming as well.
Re: Gondwanaland
I was referring to the text name of the regions, not the regions themselves. My bad for not clarifying.

Version 7
not many changes:
Most place names have changed. Ispiration generally from ancient areas/cities/tribe names of the particular region. Apart from antarctica/nusa.
colour of the words 'terra australis' and 'central africa' have been changed.
slight visual adjustments

Re: Gondwanaland
I really like the new names!
Looking at the rule for Atlantis, I'm not completely sure of the xml's capabilities, but most other maps tend to revert a region when a player conquers it, at the start of the conqueror's next turn.

Re: Gondwanaland
Slight wording change needed as Atlantis reverts to 1 at the start of your next turn. Other maps have short and easy ways ways of explaining this so it shouldn't be a big problem, maybe just delete the "and the end of your turn" bit at the end.00iCon wrote:I really like the new names!

I see the problem ty. I didn't actually know at what point killer neutrals converted to neutral.DJ Teflon wrote:Slight wording change needed as Atlantis reverts to 1 at the start of your next turn. my grammar was really bad in that sentence, ill go about making it easier to understand and correct.
Re: Gondwanaland
The word "access" in the bottom right is still typoed as having only one 's'.
