How do I win a map (particulary if it's in Europe)
Ok um, I'm new to the forums but I need urgent help. Seriously. Like everytime when I play Risk I always end up sometimes having Russia, and when I do someone is always trying to take it from me. And like if I don't have Russia I get pissed and I sometimes try to conquer it but I lose. Now I know I have an obsession but let's forget about that. How do I win a game by conquering or defending Russia, or just defending and conquering my territories and Europe. Basically how do I win a game? Because I'm a recruit and I lost my first game, and I want to know how to get better at Online Risk. Can someone post a strategy or something relating to Russia or not relating that's O.K. too. Cuz when I get Russia I want to defend it well. Also the map I usually play is Europe so if someone can give me a plain strategy on that, that always works, that would be fine.

first, don't try for one territory just because you like its name or you're from there. If you want to win, take territories based on strategy and risk. If you want to hold Russian territories no matter what, play the Soviet Union map.
second, "i dont intend to attack you", is NOT a good strategy for 1v1 (2 player games), and don't expect your opponents to follow it. If you want a defensive game, play a large game (at least 4 players) with no spoils or flat rate spoils.
third, (kind of combining the first two) you can't use diplomacy in 1v1. All the other person has to do is kill you, he doesn't have to worry about other players. If you want diplomacy, again, play a large game with no or flat rate spoils
2010-12-04 12:09:36 - Comrade Petr: dude ill let you have the middle east
2010-12-04 12:09:43 - Comrade Petr: just please let me have russia

2010-12-04 12:10:05 - Comrade Petr: can't you just make this fair
2010-12-04 12:10:15 - Comrade Petr: cmon ill even make this unfair and give you all my territories
2010-12-04 12:22:11 - Comrade Petr: DUTCHMAN I'LL EVEN GIVE YOU THE NETHERLANDS, or my territories in Europe, I just want RUSSIA
2010-12-04 12:22:31 - Comrade Petr: Or I'LL GIVE YOU ALL MY TERRITORIES FOR RUSSIA
and the rest of that chat is no good in 1v1
I could go on for a while, basically if you want to win, stop limiting yourself, play the whole map, and play it based on your drop not what you like (north england/russia).
Don't post in caps if you want someone to do something, and don't try to get someone to do something (diplomacy) in a 1v1 game.

I just thought this funny. You can't win a 1 v 1 if you don't intend to attack your enemy.
