I'm currently playing a sunny Oasis game and someone suugested that it would be interesting to play it with fog but with the 3 central oasis territories visible to everyone.
I thought it might be an intresting variation to have the option of playing fog of war on the objective maps but with the objective territories sunny.
Does anyone else think this is worth trying out ?

Not really, unless you offer solutions to the following:
1) Who would decide which territs for which maps would be visible or not?
2) Would this have to be a complete other game option? It seems that it would just be not worth the work put into it.

1)the visible territories would be those needed to win the game on any map with specific objectives.
2) and yes, it would be a complete other game option.
as to how much work it would be, I've no idea, I assumed it wouldn't be particularly difficult. In which case it would be down to whether there was much interest in the idea.
edit I've just seen the "approaching fog/fading fog" suggetion, anyone reading this thread should take a look at that. A much better idea.

if you come up with something that would apply to the vast majority of maps you'd have a hard time getting it implemented and this option is useless on most maps
however, i do like that your thinking of alternate game styles
