Re: MOST MEDALS: the race is on
Well that is not true...yeah speed helps but there are variants of freestyle where lack of speed wont hinder your ability to play. Also there is a great deal of strategy in freestyle you just dont see itanonymus wrote:ehnm, freestyle requires speed and SOME strategy (read any strategy)Dako wrote:Because medals are given for options with low popularity. I would argue escalating games have strategy as well and should be considered.

Re: MOST MEDALS: the race is on
yes but most people play escalating...most people do not play freestyle. as Dako said earlierBlitzaholic wrote:I would argue escalating games have strategy as well and should be considered.

yes, we all know this gilly, my point was some styles have more strategy then others.
A great team could lose to a decent team if they played flat rate and the gr8 team got all sets of 4, while the decent team got many sets of 10, taking for granted the dice were reasonable to both teams.

that is beacuse the other styles have been playable for a much longer time. I mean adjacent is not popular really and it has been around since 2006, so why not add medals for that?

Re: MOST MEDALS: the race is on
This thread is good for giving credit where it's due I suppose, but I would like to suggest adding a section for the top number of mapmakers.
Many have, and will, set up and win tournaments, but it takes a large sum of hard work to make nearly 30 maps! Such as, oh I don't know, cairnswk?
Surely, even though his total medals don't suggest much, there are little to no others that can acclaim having done something as such. -And this is just an example, let alone some of the others
Quality over quantity, my good people.

Not necessarily. Games just require different kinds of strategy.

Congrats! And you can get seven more from organizing tourneys, you'll be in a lead for a long time if you choose to pursue it.

Don't forget that that Danryan is getting a few of his medals from the Strategy Guide Project---by writing a few guides. This is something that anyone can do if they join the Project---we have a lot of guides left to be written.danryan wrote:We have a new #1.![]()

104.So join and close the gap!

looks like he has got 10 of them? WoW, not sure you should code that under special contribution medal andy? I mean when special contribution medal 1st came out if was extrememly difficult to obtain, it now seems to be watered down a lot. Anywyas, congratz dan. Andy perhaps post the link in this thread so more may be informed, if you do not mind.

Re: MOST MEDALS: the race is on
Blitz the medal has been changed to just contribution medal and it is supposed to be awarded more than the old special contribution medal because the idea was not for it to be so elusive.Blitzaholic wrote:AndyDufresne wrote:Don't forget that that Danryan is getting a few of his medals from the Strategy Guide Project---by writing a few guides. Re: MOST MEDALS: the race is on
Actually I have 9 for guides and 1 for a special contribution (generously awarded by ChipV). And as far as "watering down" I would suggest anyone who wants to join the Strategy Guide Project is welcome to - and we could benefit a lot by having top players join the project.
In any case I look forward to the first post being updated.

Then CC needs to create a new symbol for contribution medals, not lump it in the same symbol as special contribution.

You should update the whole of the top ten and not just your own total - especially as you can get it with a couple of clicks on the scoreboard.Blitzaholic wrote:111
