This map is dedicated to my beautiful wife who encourages my creativity. I love her more now than ever. I hope you all enjoy this special Valentines Day map.

Happy Valentine's Day
From Your Friends At Conquer Club

Name: Happy Valentines Day
Cartographer: Dolomite 13
Max Players: 8
Features: 2 player teams only (4,6,8 players). Win condition.

NOTE: This map is intended to be a fun seasonal map and available only on or around Valentines Day similar to how the St Patrick's Day map is activated only for that holiday each year. In the spirit of Valentine's Day the map has been designed to be a couples only map. So the map will only allow 4, 6, or 8 players on 2 player teams.

Territories: 32
- 7 Yellow Hearts
- 6 Orange Hearts
- 6 Blue Hearts
- 5 Red Heart (start neutral 1)
- 4 Green Hearts
- 4 Purple Hearts

Connections
- All hearts that overlap are adjacent
- All red hearts are adjacent to each other
- Cupid and all red hearts are adjacent

Starting Forces
- All hearts start with 3 troops except red hearts that start with 1 neutral each
- Cupid starts with 5 neutral.

Bonus Forces
- Every 3 hearts you hold grants a +1 bonus (Minimum +3) - Standard Map Bonus
- Holding hearts of the same color grants the following bonuses: 4 = +1, 5 = +3, 6 = +6, 7 = +8

Win Condition
- Hold cupid and one heart of each color to win the game (or eliminate your opponents of course)

Perhapse they could be labeled like those sweetheart candies... "Be Mine" "Love", "True Love" if there are enough simple sayings =)

You definitely have to have them labeled as the candies, that's just perfect.

I have updated the map and gameplay.

As always all comments and suggestions are welcome.

I would love for the foundry staff to move this to drafts if they believe it worthy of continuing development.

Thanx

I think it would be a splendid addition to the maps. :) Small objective map! :)
Certainly good for the Holiday/Fun Maps Section, whether it's dragged out in august in or February. It's a theme that can be expanded on and something we don't have now.
I think however, the objective is too quick and easy...perhaps
"Hold everyones Purple heart plus true love would be better"
I also think that everyone's heart could be coloured something apart from purple.
Purple is traditionally respected as "Valour" i believe.
I think this is a brilliant start. Good work. Nice to see. :)

Great idea to revisit this map structure for regular holidays - not sure this theme will be all that popular though.

How about something to do with summer? Conquer the beach? Maybe not- hmm :?:

Summer - fireworks display or fireflys
Halloween - pumpkin patch or trick-or-treaters
Thanksgiving - dinner table
XMas - XMas tree or outdoor light display
Easter - Easter Egg hunt or roll or candy basket

just a couple spitballs ideas for the holidays if the basic St. Patty's Day map picks becomes the design for any holiday tradition.

I agree with the nobodies. The reason why st patriks day didn't otk was because if you didn't have good dice, you were screwed. This is also a reason why my map project is in the bin now... Having that much negative experience with 'capture the center' maps, I have nothing good to say about this map :?
Woop Woop, i love conquer club, why'd i leave for a year?

As long as this kind of map only comes out a for a couple days a year, I'm fine with it.

I am still interested in working on this one ... does anyone have any additional input ... I liked the idea about holding two matched lovers giving a bonus. And I am open to dropping the "conquer the center" to win idea and just having the center worth a nice bonus.

Ok... design brief acknowledged. Is it your intention to make this a seasonal map or a map available year round? If its year round, I fear that its theme might hinder its advancement.

why did you like completely copy the patty's day one? could you not overlap your hearts differently or did you decide that was the perfect pattern?

i mean dont get me wrong... noone else has come up witha better idea for V-day... you can almost get this through by simply default... I just wish it was a little different than an EXACT same map but with diff names... I mean should you even get credit for it?

I suggest keep it as is, but change the game mechanic: Make the purple hearts as the required territories as per the xml update, then make "True Love" able to attack all purple hearts. It'd be the same territory structure as St. Patty's, but much different gameplay.

I felt it would be fun to keep the same connection scheme and theme for each holiday that way there was basically one map for the holidays. I wanted however to feature different gameplay on the same basic map every time to show how gameplay can make two identical maps unique as well as feature conquer club mechanics. I like the pattern but it can be changed if it doesn't look right, although I will certainly wait to make any further graphic changes till this map is in the graphics workshop.

Should conquer club be allowed to do a "classic" map when it was Albert Lamorisse who invented the connection scheme used in that map in 1957? Of course they should... and so should I be able to use the same or similar connection scheme in my map without needing to credit anyone.

I agree and it showcases a new mechanic while at the same tile taking way the king of the hill victory condition. Would you go with assault from true love or bombard? and I am wondering if we can get "broken heart" in there somewhere... maybe each player starts on a broken heart and only true love can mend the broken heart.... i'm looking for some catchy phrases or ways to work the valentines day/love theme into the map. Using the candy heart phrases for territories is a great start.
