About bloody time :D =D>

I promised myself earlier today that I wasn't going to join/start any new games until September (tourney/ clan war excluded).

Yeah... that plan just went out the window. 8-)

I didn't look through the whole thread and I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere in the foundry, but I'd love to see a change to the Territory names that are abbreviated.

For example;

Instead of the territ being listed as "BV" on the map and "Bavaria" in the attack drop down. I would like it to read "BV - Bavaria" in the drop down.

Does that make any sense?

Been discussed. Abbreviations were used/required due to available space.

PROBLEM: He (Hessen) tert troops are not in the circle. They are under the battle site sabers.

I'm fine with the abbreviations on the map. I know they are required on many maps due to design and long names. What I'm asking about is that the Deploy/Attack/Fort drop downs list "He - Hessen" instead of just "Hessen". It would be much easier to Deploy/Attack/Fort without referring to the chart to see which is which.

This is only a problem on the small map, the large map doesn't have this issue.

Actually that would make sense and make everything easier... do you see any problems in doing this Ender?

Provided there are no limits to the length of the territory names in the XML, I see no problem with incorporating the abbreviations into them as prefixes.

The correction to the small map coordinates for Hessen is a simple matter as well. I'm not sure how we missed that after all the fiddling we did.

the Europa map puts them after the name. example. Albania (ALB)

I'm fine with either way as long as I don't need to consult the legend on the map every time.

I want to say that I love how the XML tells the battle and date, a very nice touch and it really conveys the history in the map.

I think that Malta starting neutral troops should be reduced to 1. No point in letting it act as a wall of protection to the player starting in Sicily.

My Fractured America map has for example PEI - Prince Edward Island in the XML, so I don't think there will be a problem.

Yes, I like it too. That was the intent, and I believe it was Rask's idea (might have been Kab's, but I can't claim it as mine).

Well, the names get even longer here. I think the worst case using an abbreviation is Extremadura, which I will use as my example below.

I am of two minds about where to put the abbreviations. I'd like to put them after the name and in parentheses, but they may be more useful before the name as a key. I'd propose a choice between these two forms:
  1. Extremadura (Badajoz, March 1812) [Ex]
  2. Ex: Extremadura (Badajoz, March 1812)
Looking at them here, I am inclined to the second one, otherwise the user will have difficulty finding the abbreviation he or she is seeking.
