If I Ruled the World
Since all of us are constantly trying to take over a continent or the world on this site, I wonder about the first thing a person would do if they actually conquered the world.
If I ruled the world, I would command the leaders of nations to bare-knuckle box for my own personal amusement.

If I ruled the world, I'd enact penalties for lawyers who bring useless frivolous lawsuits. Two violations and they lose their license to practice law for a year. Three violations and they get disbarred, end of story.
I'd institute training in fencing and martial arts in all public schools, so kids feel empowered and don't see the need for guns.
I'd restrict military recruiters to where they cannot bother people in shopping malls, schools, and their mailboxes. If someone wants to join the military, they'll call you. Don't shove it down anyone's throat.
I'd remove the selective service requirements for having driver's licenses and such.
I'd abolish the electoral college and institute the old system of one man, one vote.
I'd retrain the police and enact strict psychological screenings.
And other stuff that I can't think of right now.

coming from a military background, i feel compelled to respond...you know me very well VT, don't take this the wrong way...vtmarik wrote: I'd restrict military recruiters to where they cannot bother people in shopping malls, schools, and their mailboxes. sometimes, the military recruiters do good...sometimes, people do want info on the military, and aren't sure how to get it...i know at my school, when they come (once a year) they have to stay behind their tables, and they can't reach out to get our attention...they can say stuff, but they can't like grab our arms or anything...and they can't walk through our crowds...the rules we have right now about what they can and can't do seem good enough to me...because not everyone who wants to join know how...and sometimes, its not something you can ask your parents about
okay, the rant is over...

I think military recruitment should be banned in all public places. If you want to go join the military go to their recruitment office. I had a mate in the army that did recruitment stints and the tactics they used on young impressionable guys was totally unprofessional. In the UK thankfully they don't come round schools like they do in the US (or at least they didn't in my day) but I've heard they focus mainly on the underprivileged schools and shopping malls in socially deprived areas in the States. I wonder if this tallies with your experience? Do they go round any private fee paying schools there, or is it just mainly to the state schools in poor areas (often predominantly non-white urban schools).

Just as an offtopic diversion, in you sig you've got the reference to Guy Fawkes, any particular reason?s.xkitten wrote:catholic too...just to point that out...not sure if that makes any difference
I just mention this as since you go to a catholic school I thought an anti-catholic celebration was a strange choice for your sig.
lol...i hate catholicism, and Christianity in general with a passion...i have been exorcised (it failed, according to them, and was therefor not recorded), beaten over the head with a bible, ridiculed, kicked out of class, called a bitch by my deacon, and generally beat up by catholics at my school...i strongly despise Christianity (although not the individuals, usually)
