2010 FIBA World Championship [Winner: Yojimbo28 ]

Postby dr.lucas on Thu Aug 05, 2010 4:32 pm

Hi community, I am new here and I wanted to contribute by creating a tournament based on the upcoming FIBA World Championships.

free players are welcome please leave two spots available

To register just pick a country, any country, and a home map. The only stipulation is that the map has to have the country that you selected represented somewhere.

The structure of the tournament will follow the same structure of the real tournament. The 24 players will be divided into four pools of six. The top four point earners will advance to the knock out stage.

Each game will be a best of three one game on each of the players home map and one game on the random map.

The settings will be:

Initial Troops: Automatic
Play Order: Sequential
Spoils: Flat Rate
Reinforcements: Chained
Fog of War: No

When registering please provide:

Country & Home Map

Thanks for looking and I hope this won't be my last tournament here

Questions/Answers

amazzony wrote:How many games are played at once? 3?

I am allowing players without premium so two games first then the third unless both players are premium then all three games will be played

WorldCup4James wrote:When you say that Game 3 will be on the random map, do you mean using the random setting or randomly choosing on of the 2 players´maps?

There is a map selection of Random so I will use that. It will still be the same settings

WorldCup4James wrote:How long will players have to join?

Players will have 48 hours to join minimum one game otherwise they forfeit

WorldCup4James wrote: I´m not too familiar with FIBA competition rules, I´ll research it, but I´m assuming it´s round-robin group play.

Yes, while in yout pool the games will be round robin.

Gifton wrote:do we get 1 pt for each individual game win or just 1pt for each round robin 3-game series win?

2 points for winning the match and the individual wins come into play for tie breakers. The top four teams in each pool advance and the first tie breaker is Games won/lost differential. EG. if two players are tied but player A sweeps all their matches and player B winns all their matches with one loss player A advances.

I'm in, as Estonia and my map will be.... What do you mean by represented? Does it have to have a territory on the map related/named as the country or can it just be a shadow of the neighbouring country (for example, Estonia is on the Nordic Countries map half-behind the legend of the map  ). So, can I use Nordic Countries as my home map? If not, then I'll take WWII Eastern Front.

the spirit of the stipulation is to have the country "on the map" so Nordic Countries will work. good luck

I´ll join please, NAMIBIA FOR THE WIN! So the country will be the highly coveted nation of Namibia on the World 2.1 map.
When you say that Game 3 will be on the random map, do you mean using the random setting or randomly choosing on of the 2 players´maps?
Also, how long will players have to join? I´ll have 2 spots open, but I´m just wondering.
And, I´m not too familiar with FIBA competition rules, I´ll research it, but I´m assuming it´s round-robin group play.
