the original suggestion would for two reasons:
1. the other players can only see when you actually make a reinforcement, not when you enter the reinforcement stage, and this suggestion says once you make a reinforcement you can't go back
2. the suggestion says "only for a short period of time", so after like 30 seconds or something you couldn't go back

I like the sound of this suggestion. There have been many times where I have accidentally hit the "end assaults" button.

Cheers, JB ;)

Suggestion: "Undo" button

Postby killboy108 on Tue May 18, 2010 12:49 am

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, so I appoligise if it has;

I'd like the option to hit an "Undo" button when placing troops or conducting a renforcement.
I guess it could work with a timer of 10 seconds to press or end when you proceed to press another button to continue your turn.

I'm only asking this because as a Noob I've made mistakes when playing a map for the first time and have been caught out with one way attacks and other things.

Worth a thought? :?:

First of all maybe post it on suggestion forums.

Second of all this has indeed been asked again. Just search the forum and youll see.

Third of all, it wont happen, people can abuse it then.

I think it was more of a suggestion for a plugin actually.
You could go another way with this if you have a way to generate the map. You could keep the deploys client-side, and send the list of deploys once 'end deploy' is pushed. That gives you a way to create an 'undo'-button before someone hit 'end deploy'.

But this will require large changes, not likely at the moment.

Re: Suggestion: "Undo" button

Postby TheForgivenOne on Tue May 18, 2010 9:32 am

The "Undo" button has be Suggested here many a time. It would never, ever work for Attacking, due to the fact people would just "undo" a string of bad dice, and would cause so many problems in Freestyle. Reinforcements? Well, you could play unlimited, and you could just fix the reinforcement you did. For an accidental drop? Well, be more careful, take your time and read the map ;) If a the Tech team wants me to send this back their way, they can either PM me or post in here again.

Undo

Postby CelticRose on Thu Jul 08, 2010 10:04 pm

I'm sure this has been brought up before but a quick glance through didnt show it.

I think there should be an undo button. Not for a whole game mind you, nobody would ever lose if you could keep only winning roles. But an undo button for deploying and reinforcing troops would be nice I think. Opinions?

It's just wrong to say "too bad" to those that made a mistake. It wouldn't be game breaking to allow a simple undo for unit placement. Even in games with fog of war, it wouldn't change the game at all. CelticRose isn't saying that she wants an undo for attacking somebody, simply that she wants one for deploying and reinforcing troops.
There is nothing game breaking there. It's a fair and simple request, that I'm clearly surprised hasn't been implemented here before.

But it would have a HUGE factor on Freestyle games. This has been brought up many times, and the major con would it would royally mess up Freestyle games.

Edit** This has actually been Rejected before.

How does it affect freestyle games? I thought freestyle was just when the order of turns was random.

No, All players play at the same time. So you could basically deploy, see someone deployed near you, take your deploy back, and deploy to block his attack.

If you don't like messing up reinforcements? Play Unlimited, you can fix anything. That ultimately leaves Deployment. If you want this implemented, all because of a wrong deployment, well, as Army of GOD said, too bad. This won't be implemented just to fix 1 deployment placed in the wrong spot once in a while.

The thing is, it wont get implemented because they look for updates that they can do that ultimately affect the largest majority of the users on the site. Although this would be a cool feature, it could have significant drawbacks. As well, I can tell you before even thinking about it, it would be friggin' rediculous to code because you would have to mess with the log and stuff. Ultimately, this doesn't affect that many people. So sorry, but i just can't see it happening.

This suggestion unfortunatley will not be getting implemented, due to the fact that it could be easily abused.

Take Back Move (Rejected)

Postby choochie777 on Thu Aug 05, 2010 4:41 pm

Why can't there be a button to take back a move if you made a mistake and it is still your turn?

because it would be abused beyond all belief....especially in freestyle. All i can say is be very careful when making moves.

"Back to Attack" Button *Rejected*

Postby cozzy on Fri Sep 10, 2010 11:17 am

Concise description:
  • Have you ever prematurely selected to "End Assaults"- whether it was because of being distracted, a sensitive touchpad on your laptop, a mis-pointing of the mouse while navigating around the close proximity of the other buttons or a quick realization after the fact of "s**t!- I forgot to..."?

Specifics/Details:
  • A new button to "Return to Assault" mode when in the "Reinforcement mode". This option would only be available before making any reinforcements- once a single reinforcement is made it's too late to return to attacking. The "turn time" does not reset upon returning.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Part of this game is capitalizing on an opponents mistake but if the mistake is solely based on a premature click of a button or a "misfire" as opposed to a strategical error, I think a return option would not only bolster the integrity of the game being played but also sometimes "let you sleep better at night!"...lol
