UPDATE - Official 2010 CC World Cup - Doubles

Postby amazzony on Fri Jun 11, 2010 2:30 pm

Group Stage has began! Games have been created and sent out. There were a few minor (which could of become major) hiccups but thankfully I ended up dealing with very responsible players who messaged me about mistakes and everything got solved in time.

Group Stage update scoreboard and schedule/games can be found here.

I will do my best to get back to you tomorrow to deal with possible problems and send out remind-invites.

Enjoy CC Doubles World Cup!

Following people have been given a yellow card:
Image MrBenn (England, group C)
Image neighbour_79 (Slovakia, group F)
Image MSF (Switzerland, group H)

I will get back to this tournament in a couple of hours, after 48 hours have passed since I notified reserve teams about missing confirmations, and will make a proper update to scoreboards/standings and teams.

Time to hand out some red cards to people who didn't give me their partner or whose partner didn't confirm and therefore I have the "pleasure" to remove them from the tournament:
Image capn nick & Magoo15
Image blockhead15
Image soccerghost & soldier4christ
Image Moonchild & josko.ri
Image jricart & Jojo123
Image quincyvm & NAQOYQATSI

This leaves xxtig12683xx & Gold Knight to represent Spain and 2 other teams in reserve list.

Scoreboard and standings will be updated shortly with the changes mentioned above.

I believe that I already answered it through private message but just in case a quote from the Notes in introduction post:
You must find a new teammate if you lose your partner. If you don't manage to do it then you'll be replaced by a full team.

I will give appr. 48 hours to find a new partner after 2nd invite has wore out.

Thanks for the heads up. (You did answer it in a PM as well)

Should me and my new partner post here to confirm our spots in the tournament?

Oh, this is fun :D In that case, welcome back blockhead15, invites will be sent your way shortly. neighbour_79 has been given a red card (Image) for ignoring 2 invites for games. All other games have started, just waiting Slovakia (group F) to get their last player to the field.

There seems to be a slight problem with the map, Sam has made a post about it in the announcement topic here. Stay calm and hopefully it'll be solved soon :)

Thank you! :D This is something that is always pleasant to hear :)

Sadly I have something less pleasant to share. There still seem to have some minor problems with the map (to be honest, I don't understand exactly what) so, if you are having any problems because of it then please post about it in this topic.

I'll be checking games and update standings (if there's something to update) later today when I get home where all my excel sheets are.

I haven't had any problems with the map so far. My team is trying to recover from the opponent starting with a group all belonging to one player but I think bad drops are the nature of the beast rather than a specific map problem. Or at least thats my understanding, which isn't that vast to begin with. :)

I think you've got to the bottom it all - in most maps there might be a chance that you or your opponents drop with a bonus, maps aren't foolproof like that :)

Group Stage standings have been updated. All games have started and a few ended already.

In Group A Uruguay has started with a win against France (not much of a surprise there :P). Group E has brought a little surprise to us when Denmark won against Netherlands.

Also, I'd like to remind you that the less goals you have the better (when it goes to comparing and breaking ties). Just thought I'll bring it out once again because it's kinda illogical for soccer.

UPDATE - Official 2010 CC World Cup - Doubles

Postby amazzony on Fri Jun 18, 2010 3:44 am

Group Stage standings have been updated.

Group A has first match finished, Slovenia beats Algeria. In Group D Serbia beats Australia and Ghana earns a win over Germany. Group E has finished half of its matches - Cameroon over Netherlands and Denmark wins against Japan. In Group F Italy has defeated Paraguay. Surprise has happened in Group G when Portugal has won against Brazil. In last group (H), Chile has won against Honduras.

So far 10 Group Stage matches out of 48 have finished.

What would the world cup be without referee controversy?? In Denmark's game vs. Cameroon the Danes took both finalists but were not granted the victory. Danish coaches were under the understanding all one had to do was conquer them but maybe it has to be held until the end of the round? An official complaint has been logged with the governing body but per the request of the tourney director our dilemma has been posted here as well. :)

As always, to win a game you must play out the added minutes also which can change the game 8-) In this case, I'd like to quote ender516 from event announcement topic:"ALL victory objectives on Conquer Club maps must be held for one round in order to win." Therefore, referee stays out of it and lets the game to continue.
