Re: Lunar War <v28> p1, 34 [GP] - new font
Yes... my only worry is, that is it clear enough that the shuttle & 2 landing sites must be of the same country for the +3 bonus?

Re: Lunar War <v28> p1, 34 [GP] - new font
I like it, you can put "He^3" in the legend icons so you don't lose that part of the "story." The little icon in front of the numbers looks more like a degree symbol. A more traditional plus sign would be fine.
You can make the the He^3 icon there smaller and the mines & shuttle bigger so the generic flag is more visible.

Yes... but it is already marked as "Helium-3 mine" in the left side legend, and the He-3 would take up space in the right side legend, and I imagine it will be crowded enough in the small version - so I'm not sure about this idea...RedBaron0 wrote:I like it, you can put "He^3" in the legend icons so you don't lose that part of the "story."
There was already talk about the plus sign... for some reason this font has a weird plus symbol. Perhaps I should just redo all the legend text with the same font I use for territory names, this would also solve the plus sign problem...The little icon in front of the numbers looks more like a degree symbol. A more traditional plus sign would be fine.
That's a good idea, I'll do that. You can make the the He^3 icon there smaller and the mines & shuttle bigger so the generic flag is more visible.

Re: Lunar War <v28> p1, 34 [GP] - new font
A minor suggestion: can you add "# of" before the green word "Seas" on the legend (i.e. "# of Seas")?
Looking great!

EDIT: Oh, and instead of the 1x on the left of the spaceship from the game objectives maybe the word "Any"?

IMHO plain ole' "Seas" works fine... The new visual legend is certainly much cleaner, and I don't see any real problem with conveying of information. The missile bases are kinda ugly tho.
Generally speaking, a pretty nice map. Well done, fellas.

Hm, now that I think of it "Seas" should work just fine... why make it more complicated. Also, I'll be updating the small version soon.

Now that I look at this again, I'm not really happy with either missile base icon. I guess I'll try yet another one.
As for the shuttles... I guess I could try to redo them, but I'm not sure if there's much point - an icon about the size of 20x50 pixels or so can only contain so much detail - and frankly I personally am quite happy with the shuttles currently. But if more people feel that the shuttle icons should be changed, I'm willing to consider it.

And here's the 3rd missile base icon. Personally I think this one looks better than the other 2:

Is that a Scottish space ship in the briefing/objectives?
Out of curiosity, what did you name the Helium-3 mines after?

Nah, the colour's a bit off, scotland has a darker blue, I think...Industrial Helix wrote:Is that a Scottish space ship in the briefing/objectives?
Haven't we been over this? They're just craters converted to mines, so they're named after the crater names.Out of curiosity, what did you name the Helium-3 mines after?

Did I ask that already? I know I've been wondering for some time, I guess I'm just real bad at catchign the answers when you give them.
The small font is still troublesome to read... Try increasing the space between the letters somehow cause the actual size of the letters isn't the problem.

IH, no offense but you're the only one who keeps complaining about the small font... can I ask you what size/resolution your monitor is?Industrial Helix wrote:Did I ask that already? I know I've been wondering for some time, I guess I'm just real bad at catchign the answers when you give them.

15" 1440 x 900? And yeah, I don't need glasses either.
I mean, look at the crater that starts with a B in the south west quadrant. I can't read it on the small map cause the letters merge together.

Re: Lunar War <v29> p1, 35 [GP] - new legend & stuff
well I work with a 1024x768 resolution, and I don't have any problems reading any of the territory names on the small version. In fact, most other people who have posted in this thread seem to be able to read the current small version text. So I'm just wondering, if there might be some alternate reason as to why you have problems with it...Industrial Helix wrote:15" 1440 x 900? And yeah, I don't need glasses either.

Either way, I'll try to find a free font editing software, so I can edit the kerning of the font..
