I agree. The only ''downside'' this spoils type would have is that it would prolong games. But then again, what kind of guy who hates long games joins three world 2.1 maps?

"Rebel" Spoils...as the troops of an enemy are rebelling.
Works like Nuke Spoils, except instead of one neutral army, you receive 1 army of the color of the dropping player plus 2 armies for rebelling on that territory. Sounds like a fun option to me!

My only gripe is the name. Ninja to me means assassin, and CC already has an assassin gaming option. I think "Rebel Spoils" is a better term and well suited for any type of gaming board with out running into conflict with history and culture buffs that would be complaining that ninjas never existed in Ireland or Trojan Horses couldn't be used so many times to fool your enemies. The term rebel seems to be well suited for this type of game play.

there would be issues on maps like doodle since the maps are so small...For example if one person has R ,R , R , while player 2 has g, g , r than player one could wipe out player 2 before he could play their set...in other words the card become too much of a factor

it could also give a person an impenetrably bonus.I mean a bonus that blocked by a neutrals or several of the opponents armies. For example if player and B are fighting for N america
and player A has all ones but holds the majority of N america and player one with 10 on Us.If
player A has the Us Card than he could cash it in and pretty much get a free bonus with extra
armies to reinforce the bonus

Yeah for all those reasons including the first (which I see as a positive).I think this is a fantastic idea.

Yes, all good reasons to implement this type of spoils.

You're right, this is a much better idea than some of the other spoils suggestions out there.

I don't think thats true, i bet true flat rate/ asc+1 would get far more play than any variation of this. They just seem much more tactically sound.

I think the best way to do this would be and I think this is variation 6 lol:

If you turn in a card that's not yours, it becomes yours with 2 troops on it.
If you turn in a card that's not yours, you add +2 to that country.

Even still I think this has an unpredicatability which may tend clans and other "serious" players from playing it.

What if it set all regions to one army of your color (including ones you already own), then also gave you the normal flat-rate bonus? This would allow you to place potentially up to 10 armies in one of the stolen regions if you choose, or you could make use of the extra armies elsewhere and be satisfied with just breaking a bonus for a round.

Regarding the Poll:
Edwin, if I might suggest, after this week's poll is completed, take the top two and put them in a run-off poll. I like both options of either:
[*]1) taking over all of the opponents armies on the territory
OR
[*]2) receiving 3 armies on the opponents territory.

I think, though I'm not sure, that taking over the opponents territory and receiveing one army might not get too many votes. However, I'd like to see the top two vote getters go into a runoff.

Possible?

Re: Ninja Spoils [poll]

i can do it, it will just take longer for this to be considered last call, and even more for it to move to be submitted. But you are right, there is no point in rushing it. We can do a run off if more are in favor of it.

On another note, ninja sounds cool, but idk if its the most appropriate. Spy might fight it better

How about 1 army on enemy territory and +2 bonus if it's your territory?

The idea of using the flat rate structure to decide how many you end up with didn't make the poll. I thought it was a pretty solid option. Maybe eventually several types will happen. They're all good.

I like that idea...maybe after this poll this idea can be added to a poll with the winner of this poll? Id on't know. not sure...worth considering all options, though.

I'm not saying that at all...I think the poll is great. It will probably help weed out one of the options. This set of spoils is unique and deserves some attention. If it is stickied for a few more days, I'm okay with that. It deserves some attention.

Could option b) and c) both be implemented? :)
Taking over a territory with 3 armies seems to involve more strategy while getting the number of troops the opponent had would involve more luck, as it would matter if you would cash a card for 1 troop or 20. It would be funny though.
I voted for the 2nd one, but I like both b) and c). The first option - a single army - would be too low in my opinion.

On a side note: This type of spoils would be even more interesting if we would be able to receive cards that are held by other players, so that no one would be safe.

Currently you can receive the card of any region in a game, apart from the cards that you or others hold (I am not talking about small maps with many players, where # of territories < # of players * 5).
In this way, if someone would keep stacking on the region of which he / she has a matching card, no one would be able to conquer that region with cashing ninja spoils. This is exactly what happens in nuclear games now - no one can nuke you if you are building on the region you own as a card.
