I regularly vist this site and often find that this image takes quite a while to load, I was just wondering if you had compressed it into a suitable format/ resolution.

It's already of pretty low quality (even for a .gif file), and I wouldn't like to see it reduced/compressed any more just to save a few bytes or seconds of load time.
It's not even as big (in terms of memory usage) as many of the existing map images on site, do you have problems downloading those too ?
