I have a graphics nitpick: can you decrease the opacity of the aqua glow around the continent? It's a tad too distracting in he game.

I'll take it to consideration... the glow looks fuzzy in the jpg format anyway, so it might be reasonable to fade it just a bit.
However I'm going to wait to see if I get any more feedback so I can then make all the changes at the same time.

I have a problem with deploying troops in game 6885719. I occupy Angermanland, Ostergotland ans Vasterbotten and none of them are displayed in the pop up box of territories that I can deploy on.

Re: Nordic Countries <v.59> p1,53 [GP,G,X,BETA]
I think I've seen this issue before on site, noticeably when my internet connection times out. It's not a problem with the map itself. You should've tried refreshing the page or, should that fail, clearing your internet cache. And if that doesn't solve the issue, scripts & plug-ins you are running could also affect this kind of thing.Keefie wrote:I have a problem with deploying troops in game 6885719. Man-B is right, the problem is not map-specific. I can't see anything in the XML that could cause such problems. Nor have I seen it in any of my own games...

Ok here's the large version with less opaque sea glow:
If this is satisfactory I will make the same update on the small version.
current version for comparison

Awesome map Natty! I haven't been following it, but just started my first game. Looks great! One comment: I don't think its entirely clear what regions are part of "All Sweden." Specifically, Gothland is dark enough that some people might think it is part of Norway or at least not part of Sweden, especially since Norway has "North Norway" and "South Norway." Is there a reason you don't use "North Sweden" etc.? Maybe having the borders be different between the supercontinents and the normal continents.
Also, from a symmetry standpoint, I think either the actual names (e.g. "Norrland") OR the English names (e.g. "North Norway") should be used, but not both. Sorry if this has been a topic of discussion and there is a valid reason for it.

Re: Nordic Countries <v.59> p1,53 [GP,G,X,BETA]
Thanks carl. The bonus regions were originally more similar, but I was asked to make them more different. Go figure... The minimap should provide some assistance - the bonus numbers that belong to same country have same colour of drop shadow. So far no one has had any problems figuring out the bonuses so I don't see any reason to change them. If I get a lot more feedback from people who are unable to tell which bonus area belongs to which superbonus(country) then I'll reconsider.
English names are used for bonus areas. However there is no proper translation for Norrland, it is the same in english as it is in Swedish. Other parts of Sweden are translated to english (Götaland->Gothland, Svealand->Swealand).

Seems fair. I guess you are not wild about "North Sweden", "Central Sweden" and "South Sweden"?

No. I'm using the actual region names, which brings authenticity to the map. I don't see sufficient reason to changing it.carlpgoodrich wrote:Seems fair. I guess you are not wild about "North Sweden", "Central Sweden" and "South Sweden"?
For those interested, original names vs translations:
Island > Iceland
Danmark > Denmark
Nord-Norge > North Norway
Sør-Norge > South Norway
Norrland > Norrland
Svealand > Swealand
Götaland > Gothland
Lappi > Finnish Lapland
Etelä-Suomi > South Finland

We are currently playing a manual doubles game.. Game 6905425
We are in the first round and some of the territories are still getting autodeploy even though setting is manual.
For me uppland and bornholm got 3 autdeploy.. for my partner sjaeland and Aland got 3 autodeploy.
Cant speak for the other team...

Heh, now I get what you mean. For a moment I thought you were joking there...
It seems to have something to do with the starting positions. The starting positions are in place to ensure everyone gets to drop near a capital. Apparently the starting points start with the number they're coded as even in manual games.
So yes, this is intentional. Sort of.

fine I guess... but I thought the purpose of manual games is that we choose where we want to deploy our initial men... It will soon become common knowledge that everyone is actually getting 6 men extra and where they are placed.
By the way.. this was only an observation...

You can still play manual games... You still get to drop a lot of guys, and I think the benefit of the starting positions outweighs the downside that you get a few troops autodropped in manual...nudge wrote:fine I guess... but I thought the purpose of manual games is that we choose where we want to deploy our initial men... Besides, it could bring interesting strategies for manual games: if you drop somewhere where you already have 3 troops, you'll have a bigger stack than your opponent who drops on a 1...

There's a bug that seems to prevent me from capturing sudurland from Reykjavik.
Would have been a cool map.

Sudurland doesn't border Reykjavik.Fascisti wrote:There's a bug that seems to prevent me from capturing sudurland from Reykjavik.

The legend clearly states: "Capitals connect to territories under them". The only territory under Reykjavik is Vesturland.

Re: Nordic Countries <v.60> p1 [GP,G,X,B] images ready 4 upload
So then how do I go about attacking sudurland?

Ok... so, do people really think the 3-troop territories on manual games are a problem...?
I assume the problem would mostly be about fog games and new players not knowing which territories get these stacks of 3... so if lots of people perceive this as a problem, I could add a text somewhere in the corner which says something like "Territories next to capitals always start with 3 troops" or something to that effect... other than that I don't see a way of fixing it.
However before I do this I'd like to know is this really absolutely necessary? I'd like to avoid unnecessary text on the map, it already has lots of it.

Seems like it's not really a problem then...
In that case can I have these images uploaded (xml hasn't changed)

there is no problem man. Not sure why people complained on this.
The only thing I would tinker with, and I dont think its necessary, but on the bottom right map inset that shows bonuses- I owuld put a black border around "All Norway" and "all swea" and "all finland"
Im a small map player and it was kind of hard for me to figure out what "all finland" was until I used some past knowledge and common sense.
