Hey jp, can we switch our contacts list like this:

Leader: Chard
Contact 1: Waseemalim
Contact 2: Reptile

e_i_pi is on a leave of absense from conquer club, and i may be doing the same for a short period of time so i need to ensure that these are switched otherwise i dont know if we would ever get our games joined ;)

Just thought of this now, but would classic map be allowed to be used 4 times? Since before the new one came out Classic Shapes/Art each counted as a map, so technically you could have used classic 4 times.

2 times for classic shapes, 2 times for classic art, 2 times for new classic. Makes sense...

So JP, how do the playoffs work for division 1?

Say these clans get to the playoff:

1A -- KORT (first), IA (second)
1B -- Monkis(first), LOW(second)

So the playoffs will look like

KORT (9 games) vs. LOW (8 games)
Monkis (9 games) vs. IA (8 games)

Now suppose KORT and IA win their respective playoff. Would there we a final matchup to decide who is numero uno? How many games would be played here? What about map limitations?

Another question: Suppose a map has not been used at all by a clan during the regular season. Can the clan then use the map thrice during the playoffs?

Rules
10. Playoffs and relegation will be a 9-4-4 with each side choosing 4-2-2 as described below as the regular season format. The higher ranked clan will get to choose the additional doubles settings. In the Championship round, the final settings will be British Isles (most commonly used map in Season 1), Doubles, No Cards, Sunny, Chained, unless the 2 finalists can come to a timely agreement on map and settings.

Settings
2. Given that a clan will only be making 56 home games and that there are over 100 maps available, plus considering some element of home advantage, no map can be chosen more than twice during the regular season. Maps can be chosen for a 3rd time in the playoffs, but then not again. That means at a minimum, your clan will be using 56/2=28 home maps.

Interpretation: There is no real number 1 in the Championship, hence the neutral map.

Interpretation: If a map has not been chosen in the regular season, then a clan could choose it 3 times in the playoffs. Once you make the playoffs your overall limit goes to 3.

Not going to play out the relegations, Div 2 has been less then optimal. Season 3 will look much different based on current thoughts of the CD's.

So there are no more games for us in div 2 after this last week?

How about a final between the winners of 2A and 2B instead?

Winner of D1 A plays runner up in D1 B Winner of D1 B plays D1 A runner up... At current KORT vs TSM and IA vs LoW Finals are the 2 winners.

Hey JP,

The playoff rules are a bit unclear to me. Here is my best understanding of it, please correct me if I wrong. Don't worry about quoting the rules, I know them by heart now.

It looks like we are gonna be number 1 for our division. So this means:

We get to play in 17 games in the semifinals, 9 of them created by us.

*If* we win the semis, we get to play in another 17 games -- 8 of them created by us, 8 by our opponents and 1 british Isles dubs.

Correct, so far?

Now my questions:

1. For the 9th game in the semi, is there a restriction as to what game type it can be: I mean does it HAVE to be a dubs? Or can we do a quads/trips as well? EDIT: I actually just read about 9-4-4

2. So in the 17 games *we* create (in the semis and the finals), we can only use a map
-- once if we have used it twice before in the season
-- twice if we have used it once before
-- thrice if we have not used it before

3. Will we have to play 17 games at once? Or will the games start in installment of 8 and 9, with two weeks gap in between them?

2. That is correct. Hopefully you saved some of your favourite maps ;)

3. All at once. The playoffs could drag across the whole summer if we are not careful. With the CCup ongoing for most as well, I'd like to be able to free up the time to also do that and also give some free time before the next Season, even if some may choose not to participate.

# The top 2 Clans in each division will be promoted automatically (where applicable), and will also have a small Playoff
# Playoffs and relegation will be a 9-4-4 with each side choosing 4-2-2 as described below as the regular season format. The higher ranked clan will get to choose the additional doubles settings. In the Championship round, the final settings will be British Isles (most commonly used map in Season 1), Doubles, No Cards, Sunny, Chained,

As I understand it, this will also be done in div 2. However I can't find anything in the rules regarding choice of maps. It sounded like we can have a 3rd game on maps we have used earlier in these play-offs?

If there is no relegation does that mean no promotion? Or will the leagues get bigger?

TOFU simply have to get promoted.

Based on what happened in Div2, Season 3 will have to be very different. Going to be a fairly big shift and I can see some clans not participating for one reason or another. There will be no relegation matches played in either division.

I found this in the League Schedule thread:

jpcloet wrote:31 04-Apr-10 11-Apr-10

32 11-Apr-10 18-Apr-10
35 02-May-10 09-May-10
36 02-May-10 09-May-10

I´m assuming, this is the time-line for the play-offs. And I guess, we´ll have to wait a bit until the final out-come of the regular season is decided ? Until we get fixed dates for the semi finals, I mean ?

As for season 3: I appreciate, that the clan directors want to include as many clans as possible, also new & inexperienced ones. But you are aware through the discussions here & in the CLA forum, that most established clans (especially the Division 1 clans) liked the league format & would like to play it again ?

Your remark about "some clans not participating" makes me think, you are aware of it, and that you will go through with your new ideas anyway, even if it means alienating some of the established clans. I read your comment about "standardisation" & "fixed maps" for season 3 in the CLA forum, and that makes me worry indeed.

It´s your show & your call ultimately. I guess, your main interest as clan director is seeing the clan community grow and be as inclusive as possible. I am not sure however, if it is the right way to ignore the opinions & wishes of the existing & well established clans.
