Description

Britain, as a geographic, multicultural, and multinational entity, has seen dramatic changes over the course of its several thousand years of human occupation. These changes have brought it from relative obscurity on the political fringes of Europe to become the largest empire in human history. Though its era of empire has passed, Britain still remains a focal point of international politics, business, and scientific development. For no special reason and on no special occasion, this tournament celebrates the history of the peoples and nations of Britain along with those whose histories it intersected.

Tournament Structure

UPDATE: Due to last minute interest, I have decided to increase the amount of players by 5, adding one more team to the mix. Changes to the tournament are in red.

Players will be assigned to 5 groups of 5 players. The groups themselves will not change in content, though at certain points, groups will be merged as players are eliminated.

There will be 8 rounds of 3 maps each representing specific phases of British history. Players gain 1 point for winning a map.

At the end of round 3, the 10 lowest scoring players across all groups will be eliminated and the remaining players will be organized into three groups of 5 players and point-count reset. At the end of round 6, the 10 lowest scoring players will be eliminated and the remaining 5 players placed into a single group and point-counts reset.

This group of 5 will play the remaining 2 rounds (6 games). The player with the highest score wins.

Ties at any point will be settled by a battle on the British Isles map of all the tied players. Winner takes it (or winner plus last x eliminated, if more than one player can advance). Just to be clear: points are not cumulative.

Map Settings

All maps will be sequential, flat escalating, chained, and sunny except World 2.1, which will be escalating and unlimited.

This looks like great fun, I'm totally in.

Though I might suggest that New World would work better for the Colonization of North America.

Got you all in. IH, I went back and forth on what map to pick for that game. In the end, I went with NA simply because it was my favorite of the maps I was considering. NW is a good map too, though, so I will think about changing it.

I'm in if there's still space.
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on. Ulysses S. Grant
