That seems about right. Germany was easier to center than Italy.Industrial Helix wrote:Yeah... I'm looking into this... I did a quick check on germany and it looked like the circles were 22 px, I dunno about the Italian map...

Actually... I think I want to drop the circles...
Italy looks like it will be just fine as long as the numbers don't sit on a color division...
Here's Germany:
I don't think the dark region poses much of a problem at all...

Well, to me the blue numbers do look a bit blurry on the dark region... Is there any way you could adjust the region just a tiny nudge brighter?

Re: German/Italian Unif.[D, Gp, Gr] XML is in the works
Even if it were just in the area of the number. Sort of a troop smudge, instead of a troop circle.natty_dread wrote:Well, to me the blue numbers do look a bit blurry on the dark region... Is there any way you could adjust the region just a tiny nudge brighter?

nah, it would look weird if only one region had these "smudges". Just brighten the colour I say...ender516 wrote:Even if it were just in the area of the number. I'm actually fond of Troop Shadows---I think they add a sense of grounding and structure to the map---without 'em I feel like things often look haphazard.

Well, it might if the smudges were only under the numbers, but it might not if these irregularities appeared all over the region as a texture, and "just happened" to fall behind the troop numbers. There's no need to lighten the entire region, just enough patches to give the contrast needed for the numbers.natty_dread wrote:nah, it would look weird if only one region had these "smudges". So now you want to cover it with blotches... sure, let's make it look like germany has chicken pox
I still think brightening the region would be the best choice. It doesn't even need to be brightened very much. Just so that the blue numbers won't look messy.

Yeah, that does look better. Blue numbers should at least be legible now. Good job.

Re: German/Italian Unif.[D, Gp, Gr] XML is in the works
So are we ditching the circles for both maps?

Yes I think so. I assume IH wants to keep the style of the map similar, as they are closely related to each other.

Gilligan, can you post the links to the XML for both maps? I think we should just run the XML on the latest images and tweak it from there.

While you're correct in saying that you don;t need to use army circles, part of me thinks the map looks more complete with them there; you may want to compromise and have them with a very low opacity so that they're barely noticeable?
Either way, it doesn't really matter

This is with the same coordinates as the circled map.

This is looking very, very good!!
Little error in the legend – With Venez’e’ia (small and large Italian map)
About numbers location:
-I would place ‘Nice’ legend a bit below, or rearrange the numbers location, so the 888 won’t cover the letters. (Italian map)

Big Italy looks good, once I move nice over.
Little Italy: Lazio and Marche could be moved off the borders. Tarento a little up and over to the right.
Big Germany: Looks good.
Little Germany: Hamburg could go up 2 and over right 3 pixels. Hannover left a bit so the third digit will fit, same for Trier. Otherwise looks good.
Here's the revised images for Italy:

the xml needs the start positions inserted.

I agree... how does that work in more than 3 player games? Will players 1-3 automatically get one of those regions? Or is it just any player will get one of those regions?

The starting positions are ignored when number of players > number of starting positions.

So essentially, all it would do is prevent a player from dropping the bonus region in a 1-3 layer game?
Sounds like we ought to just code it neutral 3.

I'd say, put a neutral 3 in custoza. Leave the others as regular territories.

Custoza is too crucial of a territory as it links north with the south and austria with piemont... make it magenta or solferino.natty_dread wrote:I'd say, put a neutral 3 in custoza. Leave the others as regular territories.
