I do accept that.Pedronicus wrote:My crazy idea is that all Americans who voted for the guy who didn't get in, stop fucking posting and just accept that the party they wanted to win wasn't fucking good enough to win.
Isn't there some thread about soccer or bollocks that you should be posting in?
That would be an interesting law though - "If your guy didn't win, you can't discuss how bad the current president is for at least one year prior to his first day in office."

Re: Crazy views.
My crazy idea: abolish political parties.
Abolish elections too.
Members of government would be selected thusly:
You have (say) 250 million voters. You want (say) 500 MPs, Congressmen, whatever you wanna call them.
Anyone who can get at least half a million voters to back them gets a seat. The voters can withdraw their support at any time. Once support falls below the half million, you're out. Nobody gets more than one "seat", but but the more supporters one has, the more (I think) they would be likely to influence other representatives.

Re: Crazy views.
Power to the People We shouldn't change the rules just because the people have lost their way. There needs to be an awakening....there is an awakening.
An informed populace, aware of the rules, aware of those who break the rules, motivated and dedicated and committed to the rules and the ideals of them, are unstoppable. Regardless of politics. The people can fix most of the problems, or at least manage them effectively. Right now the people are just are too busy working, raising families. There is not much time or money left over when halfor more of your income goes to taxes of one sort or another.
It is time to put down the pen, release the plow, set down the stethoscope, and stand up to reclaim our power. To show the corrupt we will not tolerate corruption. To show the cheaters we will not tolerate cheating, just because the guy before him cheated does not make cheating ok.
It is the people's fault for letting things get this far out of hand. It is the peoples responsibility, as guardians of our own republic, to restore our ideals.
Freedom isn't free. Ask yourself this one question. What have you done in your life to secure or advance your own or others freedom? To see to it nobody can take it from you, little bits at a time. To make DAMN SURE your children are left with a country better than it was left for us, and not buried in debts.

Re: Crazy views.
I'm actually for that. The college served its purpose and is no longer necessary. Indirect democracy doesn't work and probably cannot work in any system where political parties form. (When the Constitution was written the two major parties, Whig and Democratic Republicans had not yet formed.) Since these electors serve no other purpose (as opposed to a parlimentary system where the members of parliment vote for the PM) they are not necessary and are generally choosen by the winner anyway without the direct selection of the people. The Neon Peon wrote:Get rid of the electoral college, get the vote directly from the people.
I'm going to say that I'm against "term limits." I would rather be in favor of consecutive term limits. So you can run for office twice (let's say) let someone else take over and then you can try to run again. This limits encumbent powers and allows good people who served in their younger years to serve again in their older years. Otherwise one tends to get the political shuffle; they are always serving, just in different positions.Phatscotty wrote:TERM LIMITS!

Re: Crazy views.
Interesting view. Did you say the same thing during the previous administration? OK, you could say it doesn't apply because of the Florida thing. How about the Reagan/Bush Sr. admin? Those who disagree should have remained silent and "accept that the party they wanted to win wasn't f***ing good enough to win" right?Pedronicus wrote:My crazy idea is that all Americans who voted for the guy who didn't get in, stop fucking posting and just accept that the party they wanted to win wasn't fucking good enough to win.
The right answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer to the real question.
