Well it was the kind of statement that was so wrong it didn't need disproving.john9blue wrote:You're not very convincing...Titanic wrote:So you really don't understand, good to know.

It's interesting to note that some of the strongest supporters of Obama here in this thread seem to be located farthest away from the US (Skittles--Australia; Titanic--UK; Snorri--Netherlands; etc).

Well.. I haven't actually voted, as there are some things I don't agree with but there are some things that I do agree with.

Yes very interesting considering I didn't say anything about supporting Obama.Ray Rider wrote:It's interesting to note that some of the strongest supporters of Obama here in this thread seem to be located farthest away from the US (Skittles--Australia; Titanic--UK; Snorri--Netherlands; etc).

I'm in a holding pattern on Obama. I think he deserves more time.Ray Rider wrote:It's interesting to note that some of the strongest supporters of Obama here in this thread seem to be located farthest away from the US (Skittles--Australia; Titanic--UK; Snorri--Netherlands; etc).

Re: What Is Your Opinion On Obama?
Giving another opinion from the UK.......
I get the feeling Obama has become president at the worst possible time. His predecessor has left him with two wars that are incredibly difficult to get out of without looking like failure. His health proposals look doomed now that the republicans have got another seat. As for the economy, it looks as though it's been screwed by bankers worldwide and I doubt there is anything he could do to make the situation much better in the time he has.
I'd be surprised if he gets another term and I expect that in a 100 years he'll be nothing more than a footnote in the history books as Americas first black president.
I get the feeling that there is no way he could have lived up to the hype, he got the Nobel peace prize when the nominations had to be in 12(?) days after he took office.
Personally, from the coverage we've had in the UK, I think he seems a genuine guy who's trying to do his best. I'm not sure if the average american citizen feels as socially responsible as he does. It seems to be a very "I'm all right jack and it's every man for himself" culture. I'm still surprised at the amount of hostility to his health reforms but nothing will surprise me more than voting Bush in for a second term!

..and I'm not a strong supporter of Obama, I just think he is much better then the alternatives. Quite a lot of his policies, and his implementation of others, annoy the frick out of me.Snorri1234 wrote:Yes very interesting considering I didn't say anything about supporting Obama.Ray Rider wrote:It's interesting to note that some of the strongest supporters of Obama here in this thread seem to be located farthest away from the US (Skittles--Australia; Titanic--UK; Snorri--Netherlands; etc).
@BrothersWolf: Sounds about right, thats how most of the media here portray him but I think he still has a very decent shot at a second term (as the guy from CSI said to Wolf Blitzer, "hes not even at half time yet, hes at quarter time, a long way to go.")
Reagan was on 42% in the polls after his second year. Every president suffer a slump in the polls if the inherit or get a recession in their first year, but they pick up as the polls pick up.
