I was torn between good/very good. Just for the optimism that he is so good at creating through his speeches I went for very good but I'm sure he'll let me down. However, when compared to the alternatives I guess I shouldn't be so picky.

As a person he seems like a nice guy; he has great charisma. In terms of his political philosophies and the policies he's been endorsing/implementing, I think he should be voted out of office. The only positive aspect of his term as president is that he'll hopefully create a more positive, friendly image of the US for the world to see. Plus I think it's great for the world's superpower to have a half-black president...shows racism isn't as prominent as it used to be.

He is a fraud and an extreme leftist. All his talk of bi-partisanship was a joke. He is in way over his head and I personally know dozens of people who are far more qualified to be President than he is and thousands of people who are smarter than he is. He is a waste of carbon emissions. This guy couldn't balance his checkbook if you gave it to him in spreadsheet form and all he had to do was enter the numbers in the right box. Please understand I mean this in the kindest possible way.

I do know thousands of people. They aren't all my best friends and most I don't know very well but I know enough about them to know they are smarter than that guy.

I'm sure what he has done is not extreme leftist by European standards, but everything he has done is far left by American standards, not centrist. Its like turning a ship, he has cranked the wheel hard left. It will take some time for the ship to get turned all the way left but that's where its going if we don't pull hard right (straightening will not work because its already turned some degrees left and will continue on that vector if we straighten).

Hes not hard left because all you need to do is look at his policies. Cap and trade, no public option or nationalisation of healthcare, giving the banks a pretty free run (until last week), tax cuts for 95% of people etc.. All right side policies. If he was a true lefties, never mind extreme left there would be green taxes and real policies on climate change, a nationalised or competing government healthcare package, huge amounts of new regulation on financial institutions (reinstating Glass-Steagal is a good start), increasing the taxes to pay pay of the deficit or increase government investment etc....
