Team Victory
Forgive me if this is already possible, but I don't believe it is.
Concise description:
Objective based maps can be won by the team, not just a player.
Specifics:
Objective based maps can be won by the team, not just a player. For example, Peloponnesian War requires the shields to gain victory and instead of one player having to secure all the shields in a team game, if the team secures all the shields then they achieve victory.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
Make objective based maps more interesting in team games.
It will add a different level of strategy to some of the maps.
It will make team games more interesting.
It will introduce a stronger concept of allies and team goal setting to games.
It will probably be fun.

It would make the Luck of the drop even more important. Sorry IH. Enough luck influences the game as it is.
Not in favor.

Re: Team Victory
as an XML addition I could see it being quite favourable.
E.g. in certain maps you need to hold X1, X2 and X3 individually or as a team you can aim for X1,X2,X3 as well as Y1 and 2

Re: Team Victory
I agree because is the normal...its difficult for a team to make it JUST ONE have all... the example of peloponesian maps this is map is very big...so in a quadruples if i want to hold all... i have to do all the complete round?? when my partner is just near...like that its always easier to kill the opponents...

Ok, I hear you on this. But on second thought, is a team game it any more reliant on luck than an objective map two-player game?jefjef wrote:It would make the Luck of the drop even more important. Sorry IH. Enough luck influences the game as it is.

Re: Team Victory
Besides, don't most objective maps have the objectives start neutral or as the only starting spaces on the board? So it's not like this would really lead to one team starting with them all or anything...
One thing to watch out for would be that this decreases the total amount of time the the objective would have to be held. If one player on a team get's it then instead of having to hold it until the beginning of their next turn, they only have to hold it until the beginning of their partner's turn...

Re: Team Victory
I thought that the player had to hold the the objective for the total of a complete round, so hence everyone's turn. I would imagine that victory would be attained once the last player to secure the objective starts his next round.
For example, Europe 1914, Team 2 occupies Paris, London and Rome for most of the game... then player 3 on Team 2 Occupies St. Petersburg. The victory conditions would be activated once player 3 begins his turn next round.

yes this would be the logical...till all the players have started their turn securing it...Industrial Helix wrote:I thought that the player had to hold the the objective for the total of a complete round, so hence everyone's turn. This might be rather diffucult to code for.Industrial Helix wrote:For example, Europe 1914, Team 2 occupies Paris, London and Rome for most of the game... then player 3 on Team 2 Occupies St. Petersburg. The victory conditions would be activated once player 3 begins his turn next round.
Right now, at the start of a turn it is just checked if the player has an objective. But in what you propose this is not enough since also has to be checked how many "parts of a turn" this objective is held already.

Re: Team Victory
So is there any interest in this? I think it would be a great addition to team games and certainly make them feel more like team games.

Team play is very necessary to win via objectives IH. More so than just eliminating opponents.Industrial Helix wrote:So is there any interest in this? I think it would be a great addition to team games and certainly make them feel more like team games.
