Conquer Club -- A Year in Review
And as 2009 departs on happy trails
Let us look back at the monthly tales
Of this prolific year gone by---
So come one, come all, lets us recount---or try!
January brought our third birthday
And Game 4 Million started play,
The Cooks Society celebrated 1 year in full
Turning low ranks from bears into bulls,
But everyone wondered what 2009 would have in store---
Would it a year of downturn and mayhem, or fun and more!
February brought a whopping record of 1533 Users Online
Just as CC News published Issue #1, what a find,
And the Off Topics forum proved to be a revolving door
Becoming Much Ado About Nothing, a change of décor,
But nothing could top Whac-a-Mod #1---
Team CC handedly out fought the community and won!
March brought a banana bunch of changes in staff
With longtime Community Manager Twill running off in a laugh,
Jpcloet volunteered to wrangle clans and Optimus Prime became a lead of Team CC
While some nobody from nowhere joined under the name Hyasri,
But aside from all this administrative gobbledy-gook and muck---
Centerscape became Midgard, and the St. Patrick’s Day map tested everyone’s luck!
April brought the bon voyage of Fireside Poet from Team CC
But no doubt this month will be remembered for something cutesy,
“Cutesy Club” made its debut on April Fools’ day
With many a laugh, a jeer, a cheer, and maybe a few cools and “…hey,”
But when the Flame Wars forum finally closed its doors---
You would have thought it was the start of all wars!
May brought more administrative alteration
The nobody from nowhere Hyasri made way for the AndyDufresne sensation,
Lackattack debuted API to improve performance
Though honestly this seemed like some nerdy enhance,
But for the larger mainstream community scene---
The maps Land & Sea, Castle Lands, Greenland, and Indian Empire all became new game cuisine!
June brought a forum re-organization
And the beginnings of record Game 5 Million,
And if you were hungry for some haphazard chance
The Random Map feature was a terrific choice for joining that gaming dance,
The Off Topics forum became Turtle Soup---
And busted Multis were now auto-kicked, getting the boot, the whip, and the whup!
July brought a new method of financing this fine addiction
With the debut of the Trial Pay Premium addition,
MrMoody a Chatter and Mpjh a Society Teacher joined Team CC as volunteers
Amid a soft and subtle sound of “Free Mustard” cries and cheers,
And Cicero, Team CC volunteer, finally said adieu---
As Conquer Club Trivia premiered to test all that you thought you ever knew!
August brought the conclusion to the popular and gargantuan Clan League
A tournament that no doubt caused headaches, head scratches, and fatigue,
As MrBenn brought hope to the Map Foundry as a new Foreman
And Thenobodies80 joined the Cartography boys in blue of Team CC’s volunteer clan,
And Lackattack launched the Official Conquer Club Quarterly Newsletter---
And fixed the “double-turn freestyle loop-hole” making Freestyle better!
September brought wave after wave of hellos and more:
Lindax, Tupence, Samuelc812, MeDeFe, Manbungalow galore,
Could there possibly be any more…we could try:
Eye84free, King Sam, Lord Voldemort, Evil Semp, oh my,
And as we said hello, we said goodbye to Natewolfman and Lancehoch too---
Just as Manual Troop Placement made its shiny new debut!
October brought a little vengeance for the Community
With a Community win in Whac-a-Mod #2 you see,
And who could forget new medals for Freestyle, Fog of War, and Manual
And the nerdy addition of UTF-8 to help make Conquer Club a little more international,
And to cap the month off a Speed Game Holiday on the Halloween Hollows map---
And yes, once again, the Off Topics forum became Monkey Business in a snap!
November brought the launch of the Official Conquer Club Facebook fan page
To help spread world domination to an even greater stage,
And just as Redbaron0 and Slowreactor joined Team CC, Game 6 Million began
And In Game Statistics launched amid uproar and cheers and cries of shenanigans,
And slowly but surely, a new infectious forum wave was spreading like a spill---
Who could’ve known that everything was invented at McGill!
December brought goodbyes for Jennifermarie, Herakilla, Gloryordeath, and Killmanic
Just as the devastating Nuclear Spoils started to create waves of in-game panic,
But that wasn’t the only epidemic to plague the Community
As CC News began its “Love Conquers All” to unite Premiums and Freemiums you see,
But the real gem of this month, and maybe this year---
Was the much awaited completion of a proper Classic Map, hear hear!
And as 2009 journeys off into the distance and over the hills,
What a year we've had, of highs and lows and thrills…
But what will 2010 and a new decade have in store?
Who the heck could guess, but I surely know---more, more, more!

Optimus Prime wrote:I understand your sentiments, Shino Tenshi, but the games will work just like normal speed games currently do as far as eliminating players and time added is concerned. As admins we had no clue it was something that needed to be looked at, but I'll make a note for future festivities to at least bring it to the table.
