With its fifteenth edition, Initech enters into new territory. I realize some people despise these settings, but my experience in earlier mixed-settings Initechs shows that it works. Anyway, like all Initechs this edition will be flat rate, chained and foggy. The hiccup here is that all games will be assassin, as well. To avoid some of the pitfalls that come with foggy assassin, the tournament will be 3-player games only throughout. All details are explained below. I give you... Initech XV: Secret Mission.
OVERVIEW
3-round, 72-game, 8-map, 18-player tournament. All players guaranteed eight games. Max games for an individual player is 24.
ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
Premium only, sorry. You'll need more than 4 games open at all times.
RULES
All games will be Assassin, Sequential, Automatic, Flat Rate, Chained, Foggy.
MAPS
To make the assassin/foggy 3-player settings as smooth as possible, we will utilize some of the smallest maps on the site. The following 8 maps will be used: Australia, Greater China, Greenland, Haiti, Ireland, Luxembourg, Madagascar, San Marino
ROUNDS
The first round will consist of six groups of three players each. All 8 maps will be played. The player with the most wins advances to the semifinals.
The semifinals will consist of two groups of three players each. All 8 maps will be repeated. The player with the most wins advances to the finals. EDIT: in addition, one wild card winner will advance to the finals--this will be the second-placed finisher with more wins.
The final consists of one group of three players. All 8 maps will be repeated. The player with the most wins is tournament champion.
SEEDINGS
After there are 18 entrants, players will be grouped into 3 different pots by points/rank. One player from each pot will go in each first round group.
TIEBREAKERS
In the first round, the tiebreaker utilized will be the fewest number of rounds it took to achieve a player's wins. If still tied, the second tiebreaker will be a playoff match on Luxembourg, with tournament settings (but standard and no spoils).
In the semifinal round, the first tiebreaker utilized will be the number of wins in the first round. If still tied, the second tiebreaker is the fewest number of rounds it took to achieve a player's wins in the semifinal round. The third tiebreaker will be the Luxembourg playoff match as stated above.
In the final round, the first tiebreaker will be the number of wins in the semifinal round. The second tiebreaker will be number of wins in the first round. The third tiebreaker is number of rounds it took to achieve a player's wins in the final round. If somehow still tied, the Luxembourg playoff mentioned above will be utilized.
