'k - I've been playing the NYC board and I like it EXCEPT the territory names are so long for the subway territories, that the "attack" button and the "end attacks" button end up being right on top of each other and I have 3 times now hit the wrong button and screwed myself out of a turn!
I don't know what, if anything, can be done - I just wanted to bring it to your attention.

I know what you are talking about. It is an unexpected problem and I'm not sure if there is a solution. In fact, I'm not sure even if we can rename the stations or what we would rename them too. Part of the reason for their length is so that there would not be any confusion when selecting between astoria and astoria station for example. The only possible thing might be to remove station off it entirely but I'm not sure if that is clear enough.

I would suggest getting Firefox, because that sounds like a browser thing.

First class map. Well done. Enjoying it thus far.

My only suggestion is some territory army circles sit on the subway lines, thus making them look
part of the rail. But they are not.

A slight movement to elsewhere in the territory would solve this and avoid confusion.

Thanks,

trekwest ;)

To get the +10 bonus for Manhattan, do you need to hold the subway stations in Manhattan?

ues looks like a station, even though it isn't. my defensive strategy for one round was based on forting from ues via midtown station (my opponent held midtown territory) to financial district and i discovered that i couldn't!

sry, we thought the colored border surrounding the army shadow would be enough. Granted it can be confusing at first before you are comfortable with the visual cues.

Just finished the map and here is my take...

Great Map! The trains make it really interesting and you must change your strategy for them, which gives the map a little extra enjoyment over traditional movement!
Territories are well setup, and the map is BIG so it makes for a long, fun game!

Manhattan isn't worth enough points in my opinion... it seems to be much harder to take and defend than Brooklyn, but is only worth 10 vs. 16. Brooklyn is over-valued in my opinion. I know Manhattan is small compared to the others, but it's location makes it a battleground due to the trains and moving from one territory to another. But I'm new, so there might be a good reason for this that I don't understand.

Some of the placeholders are on the train lines, but it wasn't bad enough to cause any errors or mistakes for me.

All in all, I think it was great and so far it's my favorite map!

It would be up to the map designers to pursue any infringement of their copyright; it's a blatant rip-off, and a pretty rubbish one at that... If I were Snapdoodle or Benny Profane, I'd be inclined to send some sort of "cease and desist" request to the webiste in question...

How so, isn't the copyright of maps given to CC by the contract mapmakers sign?

I believe the contract the cartographer's sign explicitly states that CC can use the map - not that the cartographer no longer has the right to the map.

Heck, it's possible that Snapdoodle or Benny gave them the right to use it as well.

No. a) Just no. b) If he/they did give them permission, shittyripoffsite.com would've used their image, not a ripoff.

I could get contact with them. Do you think it would be worth it for benny or snap to get them to take it down?

It's ultimately their decision to make - I don't know if the other site has forums (I'm not registered on there, and don't intend to). If they do, it could be worth advertising CC, as the original source of the NYC map - and of much higher quality to boot; aside from the copyright issues...

Well.
the killing 44 was kind enough to pm me the news. And I'm pretty pissed off. I'm sure snap will be as well when I tell him.
They literally took our map and ran it through a crap machine.
Do snap and I have any recourse other than just contacting the site and telling them to remove the map due to copyright infringement?
I know this has happened to CC mapmakers repeatedly, but I don't have time to search threads for how these things usually turn out. Any direction you great folks can point us in will be greatly appreciated.
And thanks again all, it's really nice to know there are still folks here who care.

One person you might want to talk to is RJBeals, another site ripped off his Italy map many moons ago. I dunno how it all played out, but prolly worth dropping the dime.
