Re: Football (real)
My Jets fan roommate is getting to be rather unbearable. Lucky for me, I've reverted to being a Bears fan, so we don't need to go over last sunday too excessively. But he actually taped the game and watched parts of it again that Sunday. Kid's messed up. Just the same, I'd say the Jets might be the class of the East this year.

Welcome aboard. I'd just like to say that this is the last week for you guys to become Bears fans before you officially are considered band wagoners. There's still a lot of doubt about whether the real Bears are the ones that played the Steelers or the ones that played the Packers, so if things head uphill from here it's still a fair switch.spurgistan wrote:My Jets fan roommate is getting to be rather unbearable. It sounds like bandwagonning. No offense.
In other news, 4 weeks into the college football team 4 top 5 teams suffer upset. I didn't actually get to see the South Carolina-Ole Miss game and I was expecting Ole Miss to win yet somehow I'm not surprised. Can someone explain that to me?

Ole Miss QB couldn't handle the pressure. He said he was glad the pressure was off now. Someone's not cut out for their job...

Well after reading the article about what Nutt and some of the Ole Miss players said about the game, it sounds like Nutt did a poor job of having them mentally prepared to deal with the hype of being a top 5 team all together.Neoteny wrote:Ole Miss QB couldn't handle the pressure. Re: Football (real)
other than that Norwood for SC is playing extremely good defensive ball with 6 sacks in 4 games. I doubt he'll quite keep that pace up, though right now I would say he has a good chance at beating the SEC sack record.

I wouldn't really doubt that either.strike wolf wrote:Well after reading the article about what Nutt and some of the Ole Miss players said about the game, it sounds like Nutt did a poor job of having them mentally prepared to deal with the hype of being a top 5 team all together.Neoteny wrote:Ole Miss QB couldn't handle the pressure. Re: Football (real)
I really can't believe the Jets are 3-0 so far. This is unbelievable, and awesome. I'm so used to watching the Jets lose a lead and never get it back. But Sanchez is competent enough with good players and that defense is so sick. They pulled it out. They'll collapse within 3 weeks though. I'm used to it.

And so it begins. The tedious and familiar decent into the Same Old Jets.
That OT last night was so painful, I had to shut it off. I only found out the inevitable truth this morning.

Re: Football (real)
Sanchez seemed to have potential, and I don't expect he's lost that. There'll be ups and downs, but I think he'll turn out pretty ok.

Re: Football (real)
What killed me was that last sack in the game, when they had a really good shot to win it, but Sanchez went down for a 14 yard loss. Kid should have thrown the ball away.
Whatever. I think it was Namath's third year with the Jets he took them through the Superbowl. The kid needs a couple years. Plus, I remember hearing him complaining about the cold weather, since he's used to Southern CA. Well, either he'll toughen up or he'll wash out.
What I'm saying is, I'm still rooting for him, but I'm not ready to buy a jersey with his name on it yet. (I have a Curtis Martin and a Wayne Chrebet jersey, and I am so, SO glad I never gave into the temptation to get a Favre one)

Re: Football (real)
Oh, also, how about that Braylon Edwards? He had one great reception in the game. I hope he pans out too, and his debilitating case of the "dropsies" was limited to his time in Cleveland.

Re: Football (real)
I don't know. I think Namath may have secretly left a qb curse in NY. Brett Favre fell apart at the end of last year, now Sanchez...pimpdave wrote:What killed me was that last sack in the game, when they had a really good shot to win it, but Sanchez went down for a 14 yard loss. It's not even close to the end of the year. He's a rookie. He's going to have rookie games.

Re: Football (real)
btw, Romo is a clown. And he sucks. And Dallas sucks. They aren't America's team, they're the sucky team from the south. Jets rule. Don't forget it. Dallas sucks. Boo Dallas. But Romo is a clown.

I must note how impressed I am with the Jets. I didn't give them a chance.
I still don't give them a chance against Indy, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if they win.
