Re: POLL - Do some players use cheat codes?
Yes, I´ve recently purchased some cheat codes directly from Lack, that´s why I´ve not brought a premium extension because I didn´t have the funds to do both.

Alt+F4 works alright for me but when I need outstanding dice I hold Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

So far we've never had to deal with any issues of cheating codes---that is to say, someone maliciously altering the system for personal gains---and I don't think we probably ever will. The more "petty crimes" --- multiple accounts, secret diplomacy, point dumping (on a small or large scale), and the sometimes questioned/despised/lauded strategies of suiciding or targeting specific ranks (to ensure minimal point loss) --- these kind of things seem to be the most accessible, and thus probably the only forms we'll ever have to really deal with.
But if I do get a intensity cube hack, I'll make sure to let everyone know---once I get to the top of the scoreboard.

I was letting this poll fall to the wayside but I started to rethink it...
Andy's response - which is exactly what I would expect from someone who's likely benefitting with more than just the warm fuzzy feeling of being a CC Mod - now seems to indicate that the "disciplinary measure" PM he sent me regarding something I said early on in this thread, was more a result of the topic than my response to an insult directed at me...
First of all, call them what your lawyers tell you to, but they are DICE (not "intensity cubes"); Secondly, you can mock my questioning the use of cheat codes - but the majority of votes indicates I'm far from being the only one who feels screwed when playing a game against players who roll literally nothing but 5's and 6's.
The poll states a valid question that, unfortunately, could adversely affect CC's bottom line; However, the number ONE priority of any business (and YES CC is a business) should be to assure the integrity of the game, including the "intensity cubes", which, based solely on the number of dice-complaint threads that have been buried in the forums, has become a matter of contention for many players.
I - and many others - have gone to freemium as a direct result of the reasons stated above.
In fact, I currently have no active games, which is sad, as I used to be an avid fan and contributor to CC.
The tactic of merging dice-complaint threads should perhaps be under review and a greater focus placed on addressing streaky dice (with actual dice rolling 5 consecutive sixes is a rarity, while here it has become the norm); Also, rather than pretending CC is somehow above potential cheat hacks, maybe additional efforts could be made to assure the playing field is level for all players - rather than infering threads like this are merely the product of sour grapes.

Re: POLL - Do some players use cheat codes?
This is absolutely incorrect. Rolling five consecutive sixes is in no way a rarity at all, when you take into consideration the MASSIVE number of rolls made on this site in a single hour, never mind in a year.Elijah S wrote:The tactic of merging dice-complaint threads should perhaps be under review and a greater focus placed on addressing streaky dice (with actual dice rolling 5 consecutive sixes is a rarity, while here it has become the norm)

Re: POLL - Do some players use cheat codes?
You can believe what you will (who am I to stop you? I am but a humble monkey), but to characterize any disciplinary measure as "retribution" for creating a topic about cheating on Conquer Club (and of the method/style that doesn't seem to be prevalent or existent) is a little too much conspiracy theory in my breakfast bowl of banana-nut cheerios![/quote]Elijah S wrote: I was letting this poll fall to the wayside but I started to rethink it...

I'd like to think we've ensured the integrity of the game---at least from this standpoint. We have multi hunters hunting down those who create extra accounts and who engage in secret dimplomacy, so we are attempting to cover that end. But we've yet to receive any reports of anything that would come close to the methods you are suggesting for possible cheating.First of all, call them what your lawyers tell you to, but they are DICE (not "intensity cubes"); Secondly, you can mock my questioning the use of cheat codes - but the majority of votes indicates I'm far from being the only one who feels screwed when playing a game against players who roll literally nothing but 5's and 6's.

I'm sorry to hear that the intensity cubes have adversely impacted you to the extent you don't wish to continue your Premium Membership, but I'm pretty confident that they are not factoring into any cheating going on Conquer Club (other than having multiple accounts in a game, and thus "getting more rolls" kind of thing).I - and many others - have gone to freemium as a direct result of the reasons stated above.
In fact, I currently have no active games, which is sad, as I used to be an avid fan and contributor to CC.
I don't think we are pretending to be above potential cheat hacks---we just have never had the issue over 3 years of activity. Maybe it will come up in the future? But I don't think so. As I mentioned, there are more "pedestrian" types of cheating --- multiple accounts, secret diplomacy, point dumping, etc, that I think we will continue to face.

Timminz - don't know what your problem is, but get over yourself. If people were mocking me than why do the majority vote that they believe some players use cheats?Timminz wrote:People are not agreeing with you. I'd elaborate, but you're really not worth the time. Why don't you go do something else and stop posting immediately after me wherever I post? Get a life.

I'm not sure if people are mocking or agreeing, but from my time in the Foundry I remember the general Foundry community there believing that polls were rarely a good way to actually get the opinion of the Community. It's been a running joke ever since the creation of the Foundry that Polls are more non-sense than not! Just a side note.Elijah S wrote:Timminz - don't know what your problem is, but get over yourself. I'm sure CC posters will be happy to know that... afterall, if we didn't have you to clarify that for us, we might feel otherwise.AndyDufresne wrote:I'm not sure if people are mocking or agreeing, but from my time in the Foundry I remember the general Foundry community there believing that polls were rarely a good way to actually get the opinion of the Community. I assume this running joke also applies to the recent links to threads encouraging members to vote for CC?
Also, after 2 PM's I've yet to receive a reply as to whether the poster who initiated the insults also received a "discipinary measure" PM?
Re: POLL - Do some players use cheat codes?
No. You're missing the point. Very few people honestly believe what you're saying. I would wager large sums of money on the fact that the majority of people who voted for the first poll option, are just fucking with you, and all you're doing now is giving them the satisfaction of seeing you continue to act foolishly.Elijah S wrote:If people were mocking me than why do the majority vote that they believe some players use cheats?
I was one of those people, until I felt bad about it this morning, and decided to let you in on the joke.
But don't mind me. Carry on.
Re: POLL - Do some players use cheat codes?
Yes. I have no doubt some players use cheat codes.
1. I have a doubt that some players use cheat codes
No. Conquer Club security cannot be breached.
2. I do believe that it is possible that someone can cheat the system
I've been in games where I had no chance, but believe it was just my bad luck.
3. This has nothing to do with the anything
I don't care - I play for the fun of it.
4. And who wouldnt care if people were cheating
Your 4 options were as dumb as the question...
personally i voted for the first option...
do you still feel like your poll has meaning?

Re: POLL - Do some players use cheat codes?
I played a real game of Risk recently (shock!) and the dice were wonderfully streaky. Four moves in a row the attacker was throwing large numbers (say 50 attackers) and ending 15 down, 20 down, 25 down...the defence was just continuously throwing 5's and 6's again, again and again. We are talking 100 throws here with the attacker maybe taking 3 for every 9-10 lost. Completely changed the game of course.
Now I natually accused spoongod of using 'cheating dice' because, well, isn't that what you do when you lose? Blame the tools...?

Re: POLL - Do some players use cheat codes?
Exactly, whenever I play in real life their is AWAYS one person with ridiculous dice. I won a game once where it was 2v1 after rould one and I still won because I rarely lost a roll. If anything CC dice are TOO random, the streakiness is cut down by the large number of rolls.Mr Changsha wrote:I played a real game of Risk recently (shock!) and the dice were wonderfully streaky. I vote for MORE streakiness

Haha, I'd keep that last bit quiet...I don't think that is a popular sentiment in games!maasman wrote: Exactly, whenever I play in real life their is AWAYS one person with ridiculous dice. But nonetheless, I'm in agreement with the last two posts.
