Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
They're probably right about us going to the Peach bowl. I'd rather see us in the Orange bowl, though.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Regardless of how it turns out there should be some sweet matchups,
although I see Cincinnati going undefeated and winning the Big East
so how do they draw North Carolina in a bowl?
Maybe it'll be the Bearcats vs the Gators in the Sugar Bowl?
Right now Cincy is #5 and Pitt is #9 and they'll meet for the Big East Title December 5th
if the Panthers win at West Virginia next week. Pittsburgh's only loss was to NC State,
while Cincinnati's closest score was against (then) #25 West Virginia (7-3).

Pitt lost to NC State. We beat NC State. We lost to Maryland.
Meaning Cincy will pwn Pitt. The debate is over.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
It's an impossible streak to accept. Michigan owns the record for most consecutive bowl appearances - in fact, I'm 28, and last year was the first time in my lifetime that Michigan hadn't played in a bowl game. I am all for going firing Rich Rod and going after Les Miles (a Michigan alum) or anyone else. I believe the offense Rod is running is gimmicky. Michigan succeeded for years running a pro-style offense, and could continue to do so while modernizing to the times.oVo wrote:Hard to believe Michigan could wind up out of the bowl games again.
That's a tough streak to accept for the Wolverines.
Even if by some miracle we do beat OSU, I've still seen enough of Rodriguez to let him walk.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Well.... Rodriguez turned West Virginia around and made them a team to be reckoned with and I expect nothing less from him at Michigan, if given the time to pull it together. But just like Notre Dame, consecutive losing seasons is hard for diehard fans to stomach.

If Pitt was to beat Cincy and cincy has 1 loss I'd rather see them in that bowl game overthe 2 loss Iowa.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
I'm confused on whether Ole Miss won or LSU lost...Ole Miss in the second half looked like the team that they were expected to be at the beginning of the season however that last minute for LSU after they got the onside kick and that first down was just one huge mistake after another.
Maxleod wrote:Not strike, he's the only one with a functioning brain.
Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
That was quite a game and Ole Miss's offense was dominant for most of it
but LSU made the plays to hang onto a slim lead until the 4th Quarter. The
finish was definitely strange and uncharacteristic for the Tigers, particularly
the slow time out called after the 3rd down play that allowed way too much
time to run off the clock.
TCU upset Wyoming in a shocker.
Michigan and Notre Dame both came up short today.
Georgia 27 Kentucky 34 Final
Texas 51 Kansas 20 Final
Oregon 44 Arizona 41 Final 2OT
Cal 34 Stanford 28 Final
Wisconsin 31 Northwestern 33 Final
LSU 23 Mississippi 25 Final

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Watching the game, I can honestly say that the Horned Frogs are better then the Longhorns. Sure, a slow first quarter, and most of the second, but then they just blew right on through us with two touchdowns in the last 3 minutes or so of the 2nd. It took the Longhorns the entire first half and halftime to get back up.
Now that the game is over (and formerly winless New Mexico beats down CSU), I will root for TCU for a BCS bowl (and hopefully the NC) and Wyoming to beat the sheep take home the Bronze Boot.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
It's amazing how similar the TCU and Texas games against Wyoming were,
with the Cowboys scoring no offensive touchdowns...
Even the scoring in those games was parallel as three touchdowns were put
on the board in the third quarter.
Texas gained more yards on the Wyoming defense, but TCU only surrendered
five first downs to the Cowboys for the entire game.
Week 2, Texas 41 Wyoming 10. the Cowboys only TD came on the six yard
return of a blocked punt in the second quarter. The Longhorns offense nets
544 yards and 27 first downs.
Week 11, TCU 45 Wyoming 10, the Cowboys only TD came on a fumble
returned 98 yards in the second quarter. The Horned Frogs offense nets
507 yards and 25 first downs.
Should both Alabama and Florida lose a game, maybe the debate over which team
is the Lone Star State's best will get answered on the field. There's currently six
undefeated teams left and TCU has no big hurdles remaining before they go bowling.
btw... I can't remember Kentucky ever winning a football game in Athens.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
And, TCU's head coach said himself, that he called off the dogs in the 4th quarter. That being the only reason why TCU wasn't higher then Texas. Though, when you need fewer 1st downs and yards to get more points (4, I know, but still more), that is saying something.oVo wrote:It's amazing how similar the TCU and Texas games against Wyoming were,

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
I dont agree that you can compare the 2 separate games and try to come out with an assumption that one team is better then the other. Every Saturday is different. And cause Texas did this vs Wyoming and TCU did this doesnt tell me that TCU could beat Texas.muy_thaiguy wrote: And, TCU's head coach said himself, that he called off the dogs in the 4th quarter. First off it was Texas's 2nd game of the season, and lets face it the 1st game was a high school scrimmage, so Wyoming as sad as it is for me to say this was their first real competitive game.
Our offense got out to a real slow start, but our offense has never been the concern, and we used this game against the Cowboys to warm up our defense against the spread to prep for future games, and our defense showed up. Allowing no offensive TD's and holding Wyoming to 3 for 17 3rd down completions.
And after the half TX opened it up scoring on 3 of their 4 possessions in the 3rd quarter and once in the 4th, while the defense still held strong. Offensively getting 292 yards in the 2nd half and only allowing 150 yards.
I seriously doubt the Wyoming Cowboys being a competitive game for Texas if they played now in the season. I would be willing to bet that the first half downfall for us back then was due to the team already looking past Wyoming and on to the revenge game vs Tech.
I still give TCU props, but I dont think they can beat Texas, and the only way to find that out is for a shake up in the top 2 to get that game, which I think is unlikely.

Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL
I think TCU vs Texas would be a great matchup, because I do believe the Horned Frogs
are good enough to prevail against any team in NCAA Division I.
Of course the same can be said for all Top 10 teams.

Go pokes! And I agree TCU deserves a spot in the National picture, I'm also hoping Nebraska's defense shuts down the longhorns and plays the spoiler.muy_thaiguy wrote:Watching the game, I can honestly say that the Horned Frogs are better then the Longhorns. While that would be great fun (my wife is the biggest Cornhusker nut you'll ever meet), it's just not gonna happen. Well, the defense might play that part actually...but the offense will help Texas score enough.TheMissionary wrote:Go pokes!
