Which is Better, The American South or North?

Let's take stock of the accomplishments of each:

The South: slavery, illiteracy, Jim Crow, lynch mobs, obesity, people like in Deliverance.

The North: the lightbulb, the automobile, motion pictures, recorded music, football (first game was in NJ), hockey (invented on Long Island), nearly all modern highway safety improvements (NJDOT being the leader in the nation),

Everyone, please make lists of your own, and I will add them to this original post.

MPJH has clearly shown this battle should be extended to north, south... and California. Instinctively I'm inclined to back mpjh's hawt chicks in Cali, but MeDeFe's drinks look mighty tempting. They really do, and here's the thing, if I knock back a dozen or so of MeFeDe's drinks all the chicks are going to look hawt to me anyway. Unless you can counter that in Cali or the north(weak sauce so far Dave) I think I'm probably going for the South on this one.

The South had/has open racists (not saying all are, just that the ones there are more open about it) and has a more rural community.
The North (mainly NE) has more subtle racism (Irish immigrants for decades, segregation by community), and a more urban/big city enviroment.
The Mid West, depending on the state, could fall into one of the previous two. Accent attributed as "American Accent."
Mountain West is more live let live type of feeling, so long as toes aren't stepped on/views crammed down throats.
Pacific, depending on the region, is either close to being an extreme hippy or extreme redneck.
Hawaii, well, is Hawaii.
Alaska falls into the Mountain West categorically.

Just so you're all aware, motion pictures were invented in Edison's Laboratories in Metropark, NJ. Along with the phonograph and the lightbulb. So any confusion with California can be cleared up now.

In fact, Edison, NJ should have been Hollywood. The process at the time required keeping the stage on a set of rails, so it could move during the day to capture the sun most effectively. Well, some guys by the names of Goldwyn, Mayer, and Warner, figured they could easily steal the technology and make more movies in less time if they went to a place that had sunshine almost constantly and was far enough away to delay patent suits long enough for the patent to expire.

And thus Hollywood was born.

And when I mean the South, it only goes as far west as Texas. And Florida doesn't really count, either.
