Add a new and seperate box for Non-team chat.

Specifics:
Uh, make another chat box for "non-team" chat. Put it under the team chat box.

This will improve discussion during Game play if you choose to engage in it.
It also may reduce (yes it may also increase) accidentally sending a message to everyone instead of your team mates.

What I noticed is communicating with my team mate and trying to have a bit of chat with the other players gets kind of wierd and jumbled together. This might not be a problem for most players here, as I notice they don't actually seem to be communicating with their team mates.

Well this isn't necessary. If you don't want to use the chat as it is us pm. If you accidentally openly chat - o well - part of the game.

Same as deploying & making attacks you should also be careful chatting.
