I guess 94% turns taken and poor rating was a reason of polite rejection, but thanks for your comments. It makes us feel warm and fuzzy that you actually care about our small clan and CC community itselfpimphawks70 wrote:I'm pretty sure he applies to anything that moves actually... I joined a tournament he started that comprised of 4 quad teams. he made a total of 4 games with the second round game consisting of the following pm
Join game, check thread of for game details.
Then after several pm's requesting him to finish the damn thing, nothing. But this person is still creating new tournaments.
People like this should be banned from starting any more tournaments, because wasting peoples time isn't polite.

Don't be deterred by either rank or achievement. We're actually a very friendly non-elitist bunch of players who consider an applicant's character and reliability rather than his level or membership status.TheForgivenOne wrote:I'd like to join, but i don't seem to stack up to the rest of the members of the group.

Sure. We will check your games, posts and chat/ratings to see if you fit into odd fellows. CoF will contact you shortly.

If this is so, then why did you only give a reason for not having enough team games completed for letting me in? nothing about character or anything.....Chariot of Fire wrote:Don't be deterred by either rank or achievement. Hi jdw, it's very valid point you raise if TOFU only considered an applicant's character and reliability - for which you have exemplary credentials imo (your poor ratings are not justified at all and your chat is always honest and friendly even in the face of adversity, so kudos for that).jdw35 wrote:If this is so, then why did you only give a reason for not having enough team games completed for letting me in? nothing about character or anything.....Chariot of Fire wrote:Don't be deterred by either rank or achievement. It was a bit awkward in your case. If you've heard the phrase "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" then in your case this really applies. With close to 8,000 games played you are really about singles speed, with very little success in team games. There was nowhere in the squad where we could envisage your particular talents being utilized, and in my experience singles specialists generally make poorer team mates than a relative noob who is happy to learn and follow a strategy.
My response to TheForgivenOne was really to indicate that no-one should feel he/she is too unworthy to apply. All applicants will be given due consideration and we are quite willing to bring onboard a low-ranking freemium as a trainee if that's what we think is right. Somehow I think you are above joining us on that basis, given your rank and experience in your particular field.
May I ask....weren't you in Nemesis a short while ago? I see they accepted your application.
Regards,
CoF

Re: The Odd Fellows Union (TOFU) [Recruiting & Competitive]
One reason i have been playing alot of speed freestyles lately is to keep my rank up, i am working on my terminator medals and that is really hurting my rank. I have really improved when it comes to team games, i am just struggling to find good partners that can help me get to my gold medals. that is one of the main reasons i wanted in TOFU because of the talent that is involved. Being around good players will help me improve my strategy and overall talent as well.Chariot of Fire wrote:Hi jdw, it's very valid point you raise if TOFU only considered an applicant's character and reliability - for which you have exemplary credentials imo (your poor ratings are not justified at all and your chat is always honest and friendly even in the face of adversity, so kudos for that).jdw35 wrote:If this is so, then why did you only give a reason for not having enough team games completed for letting me in? nothing about character or anything.....Chariot of Fire wrote:Don't be deterred by either rank or achievement. And as to the nemesis question, I was in it before, then alot of people started leaving it, and i wasnt sure if it was heading in the right direction. I was soon asked to join DLPP with lanyards, KingOfGods and the.killing.44, which was a much much stronger clan at the time.
So in order for me to get into this clan i must improve my team game success?

Re: The Odd Fellows Union (TOFU) [Recruiting & Competitive]
jdw35 -- Well it appears you certainly got the doubles City Mogul thing down.
But yes, to directly answer your question. I think we're looking for people with good team skills as the majority of the games played in the clan (from Clan league to Clan challenges to inter-clan match-ups) are team type games -- mostly sequential. There are certain nuances that come with team play which you don't necessarily get in standard, terminator, or assassin games. Not to say that these games are not indicative of talent, as they certainly are, but the style played in them are slightly different than those of doubles, triples, and quad games. For instance, team games focus on communication, proper placement of troops, reinforcing teammates, and generally thinking about the map in a different way.
You mention you have trouble finding good teammates. As long as you're willing to post your thoughts in games and not miss any turns I would be happy to invite you into a couple of my team games over the next few weeks to get your feet wet -- just let me know.

Re: The Odd Fellows Union (TOFU) [Recruiting & Competitive]
Sorry TFO, it's been a hectic three weeks since you enquired but I really must take the blame for not having written to you since my last PM a couple of weeks ago. With the clan being relatively new (just three months old now) there was a surprising amount of work to undertake to get it up-and-running, with sets of rules etc for members on top of the challenges and CLA games that we were committed to. Your application prompted us to consider the establishment of a training programme, and a lot of time has been spent mulling over the pros and cons of doing so.
I promise I'll contact you personally this week and bring you up-to-date on TOFU's decision and our policy in respect of new members.
Apologies again for keeping you in the dark - you were never a straightforward 'yes' or 'no' candidate.

The doors are open again and TOFU would be happy to hear from any exceptional applicants who wish to join a clan that is setting new standards.
