running out of time on manual placement/longer time limit

Post by william tennant »

Concise description:
  • technical failure thus running out of time on manual placement round and having huge loss of troops could be remedied by longer time limit for that round only
Specifics:
  • Recently my internet went down during my initial placement turn of my manual placement bamboo jack game. time ran out and I lost 27 troops. This obviously completely derails the game from the beginning, in a way almost always far more damaging than running out of time in any other round. I understand that there is really no way to fairly allow those troops to be deferred, as that would be open to abuse. Most other suggestions to rescue this loss of troops would be open to abuse. However, an expansion of the time limit (perhaps to six hours?) for just this round would probably save a few tragedies. I don't think it would generally slow down games because no one would use that extra time except in an emergency such as mine. Thoughts?
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • manual placement games

makes sense to me, though it might be a bugger to code
had i been wise, i would have seen that her simplicity cost her a fortune

If you miss your first turn, you don't lose those troops. It simply treats your troops as if it was automatic deployment thus starting you with 3 troops on every region.

You're saying that if you start your turn, but don't place any troops, it takes them all away? Perhaps a better fix, rather than extending the time, would be to treat it the same way it would if you had missed your turn completely.
