Updated (: Decius Mus, you'll have to be a reserve I'm afraid.

Hopefully we'll get more reserves soon (: Meanwhile, I'll go ahead and apply for tournament privileges first.

We'll be beginning soon! :D I hope... haha XD

Well the games have been created, and as of now, 6 of the 8 battles have begun, while the remaining 2 await their last player to join the game.

Update

Just 12 days into the tournament, and the first game has reached a conclusion. Group 6 is the first group to complete their first game with Theldin taking the prize, and move on to Game 2 of this round.

Meanwhile, the other groups are at varied stages of completion. Group 1 leads the pack on the 15th round of turn play for their game, though it isn't likely to be ending anytime soon.

Group 4 and Group 8 stand at 3 players left apiece, while Group 3 and Group 7 each have 1 player eliminated as of now.

Finally, Group 5 trudges on slowly but surely, having no eliminations and still being on their 6th round of turn play.

There is no rush of course, so do your best in your bid to secure a place in Round 2! The standings will be updated once all groups have completed Game 1 of this round.

And in the light of some comments I've seen in game chat, I'd like to stress that gameplay in tournaments can differ from gameplay in normal single games. In a tournament like this where points are awarded for positioning, it may be of interest for a player to weaken another equally weak player instead of attacking the powerhouse in the game. This is because ensuring oneself the 2nd place's 6 points could be more worthwhile than risking attacking the powerhouse in an attempt to get the 1st place's 10 points, as he could end up finding himself with the 3rd place's 3 points. This is because in the end it's your cumulative score which matters.

More importantly, please keep your opinions of others' playing style to yourself, and not call them 'stupid' or any such stuff. If you are displeased in any way, that should be conveyed through your ratings at the end of the game, and not through insults in game chat.

Thank you.

Update

Another 3 days saw 2 more games draw to a close. anamainiacks and overlander both managed to take out their opponents to emerge victorious in their games. Both groups now join Group 6 in the second game of the round.

In Group 2, PatXCore did away with Deli, bringing each of the remaining players closer to victory.

All other groups have made consistent progress since the previous update.

As a reminder, the image will only be updated once ALL groups have completed their first game.

Update

Yet another game has reached completion. In Group 8, madman7 managed to pull the sheets over the eyes of his opponents and clinch victory.

In other games, Group 5's first game saw it's first elimination with RoOkAz taking out Jobiwan, while Group 6 continues to make quick progress with their games as xyponinc was eliminated by Theldin, amidst conflict between players.

Group 1 is now the only team without a single elimination as of yet, as players continue storing up troops on territories waiting for the perfect time to strike.

Fight hard (:

Update

Our first Game 2 has been completed! Keeping to the true style of the speed of the entire group, Group 6 have completed their second game of the round. After the earlier reported elimination, rishark1969 made quick meat of the remaining players, taking care to rid the previous champion of their previous game, Theldin, earlier, thereby leapfrogging to the top of the group at this point in time.

Other than that, the only other progress that was made was Group 5's tanjyr sending bouncy packing, shortly after the first elimination of their game.

Like I said before, I'll only update the front page when all groups have completed their first game. If not, all groups that haven't completed their first game will be placed at the bottom of the table, which is kind of bizarre at this point when half of the groups have not completed their first game.

Update

After a few days without any game completion, Group 4 have finally completed their second game, with overlander taking pole position yet again, while Anders2004 settled for second once again. They now move on to their final game of the round alongside Group 6, which saw xyponinc eliminating both ViperOverLord and danervinsucks, ensuring that he didn't come in last place yet again.

Meanwhile in Group 3's second game, danalan axed wurmsrus from the game.

Also, in the light of the stalemate games going on, a new rule has been implemented, which can also be found on the first page:
anamainiacks wrote:Long Games !!! NEW RULE !!!
Well as we can expect from No Spoils and Flat Rate games, the case of extremely long games can occur. To overcome this problem, I'll be using the BOB script's strength calculator to determine the placings of the remaining players by the end of Round 50 of the game. After which, the game will be considered completed for tournament purposes, and the next game will be issued to the players.

Details of the BOB script can be found here: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91386.

Hopefully that will help to move things along.

Have fun!

Update

2 more games out of the 24 have been completed.

Group 6 finished all 3 of their games for the round, with xyponinc taking complete control of the game, single-handedly eliminating all the players on his rampage to victory, making up for the earlier 2 losses the plagued him earlier in the round. With this victory, he edges out group members danervinsucks and ViperOverLord in terms of points, giving all members in the group a fighting chance to stay in the tournament. All they have left to do is to wait for the other groups to complete their games.

Group 2 finally finished their first game, which could end as a result of schokkan deadbeating, followed by mongbane taking the opportunity to eliminate PatXCore and claim victory for the game. To replace the deadbeater, reserve Decius Mus has been called upon, with a complimentary 1 point to make up for the first game he missed. The group will now move on to their second game.

In other games, stevkov was eliminated by grant.gordon in Group 8's second game.

From now till the next completed game may be a while, looking at the current state of the games. Till then, good luck!

Update

Group 3 is the 3rd group to reach the third game of the round. In the last 2 rounds of their second game, shoop76 took out the remaining opponents with ease, emerging victorious.

The only other progress other than that was the elimination of overlander by Anders2004 in Group 4, a stopping his winning streak of 2 wins in a row.

Postby anamainiacks on Sun Nov 22, 2009 9:01 am

Update

The scoreboard has finally been updated with the scores! Do note that right now the cut-off mark is rather unreliable due to the 10 players from groups 1 and 5 who haven't finished their first game.

Since the last update, 3 games have reached closure.

Group 4 completed their third and final game, which had Stretch20 stealing the victory from Anders2004, who has 3 consecutive runner-up finishes.

Group 8 finished up their second game, with madman7 stealing the victory for the second time aroud.

Group 7 finally finished their first game after a long fought battle between the final 3, and now proceed to their second game.

In other games, Group 1's first game finally saw it's first elimination after more than 30 rounds of combat, while Group 3's final game saw an elimination quick into the game.

ON VACATION

Heya everyone, I'll be going overseas for about a week till Sunday, 29 November. During that time, I'll be having a friend play turns for me, but he isn't adept in the tournament hosting swing of things, so he won't be doing anything tournament related for me.

This means that during this period of time, no new games will be created, and I won't be able to check on games approaching the cut-off point of Round 50.

In view of this, please be patient if you need any games started up. They will be started on Sunday when I get back.

For games that need evaluation at Round 50, if Round 50 passes before I come back, the time limit will be extended to Round 55, ONLY for this round.

I'm terrible sorry for the inconvenience caused =(

Heya guys (: I'm back from my trip. Rather tired and dirty now haha, so I'll do the update tomorrow when Group 1 will, hopefully, have finished Round 50 of their first game.

Other than that, 2 more games have been assigned. Enjoy (:

Update

After returning from overseas, 3 games have reached completion or tiebreak point. And it brings my great joy to say that ALL groups have now completed their first game of the round.

Group 1 finally reached Round 50 which ended with a great battle between players attempting to shake up the standings. In the end, it was jug68 that managed to come out victorious over the rest.

In Group 2, amazzony rose up from the dust of the previous defeat and came out on top, causing her to shoot up the scoreboard.

Group 5 also ended their first game after an intense battle between the final 3 players, which ended with RoOkAz finally taking out the competition of tanjyr anGypsys Kiss.

The only progress in the other games was in Group 3, where danalan eliminated anamainiacks from the game.

The scoreboard has been updated to reflect the scores from all completed games, so you know approximately where you stand! Work hard to stay in or get in!

Have fun! (:

Update

2 more games have reached completion, making the closure of the round for 2 more groups.

Group 3's shoop76 rose to the occasion and took the last game, giving himself a second straight victory for a tied first at the top of the scoreboard.

In Group 8's last game, madman7's winning streak was broken by stevkov, who seized the opportunity to propel himself up the scoreboard, giving him a decent chance at the next round of the tournament.

All other groups have not had a single elimination in their games yet.

Update

So far, no game has reached completion, but 3 of the 4 games being played have had an elimination.

Group 1 may continue their streak of having long games, as it is still unclear if anyone has the upperhand at this point in the game.

Please wait patiently while we let these games continue on (:

Thanks for the update amazzony (:

Update

Group 2's series of games draw to a closure as amazzony decisively sweeps the last game, causing her to perform another great leap up the score table, now resting in a tied 3rd place finish. While mongbane was the first to be eliminated from the game, he still maintains a highly respectable score, himself being placed 2nd within the group.

Meanwhile, Group 5's tanjyr stole a kill, eliminating Gypsys Kiss from the game, while in Group 7 jaseleo took out adam666, the winner of their group's first game.

At this point, I think it can be safely said that all players scoring at least 14 points are guaranteed a spot in the next round.

All 3 of the remaining groups are still on their second game, so the next round may only begin in 2010. But till then, more updates to come!

Update

No games completed, but another elimination in Group 5 saw tanjyr biting the bullet, paying the price for stealing RoOkAz's near kill earlier.

ON VACATION

Also, I'll be going overseas on a last minute trip from tomorrow till Sunday, 20 Dec, as well as the same days the following week (Thursday 24 Dec to Sunday 27 Dec). After that, I'll be back for a week over the new year, then going off again from 3rd Jan to 10th Jan. So during these periods, I won't be able to create any games. So sorry for the inconvenience, all these trips are coming as unexpected to me as they are to you... heh.

So basically there will be no new tournament games or updates during these periods:
17 December - 20 December
24 December - 27 December
3rd January - 10 January

But don't worry, the tournament will definitely still be up and running during this bumpy period (:

Update

The round inches closer to completion as there remains only 4 games to be completed.

Within the last 4 days, Group 5 and 7 completed their 2nd game of the round, with RoOkAz taking the win for the second time in a row for his group, and will attempt to better the scores of the 4 people above him in the scoreboard, having to come in 1st with a clean sweep or clinching 2nd.

Group 7's bruno fountain rose from his previous defeat to clinch top spot in the game, putting him just behind fellow group member adam666 on the scoreboard, who won the earlier game.

Meanwhile, Group 1's game broke off from their stalemate when hahaha3hahaha launched a full out attack on Zivel, who was preventing him from holding a continent. This caused both players to be eliminated from the game eventually.

The last 4 games and the players' performances will definitely be pivotal in determining which players move on in the tournament. Whether the players who have completed their games will be leapfrogged and sent down the scoreboard, or be kept safely afloat above that big bold red line.

Update

All remaining groups have finally entered their last game. This happened when Group 1 finished their second game of the round, with Pander88uk clinching victory over the remaining players in the game.

At this juncture, all 3 final games have yet to see an elimination.

In terms of the overall scoreboard, I think it's safe to say that all players with at least 12 points at this point in time are guaranteed a spot in the next round.

Good luck to the remaining 15 players still battling it out, and happy new year in advance!

Postby anamainiacks on Sun Jan 10, 2010 7:15 am

Update

I'm back from vacation! Things should be smooth sailing for a while here (:

2 games have recently reached completion in the last 2 days, with Jobiwan achieving a much needed win over the players in Group 5, propelling him up the scoreboard and earning a spot in Round 2. The other game saw adam666 clinching victory once again, restoring his glory of winning the first game of the round for Group 7.

The last remaining game involves an intense battle between the players in Group 1. So far, Zivel has been eliminated first, making him the first and only player to have been eliminated first from all 3 games played.

The scoreboard has been updated with the latest results. The players highlighted in green are the guaranteed a spot in the next round. As General Flashman of Group 1 will be getting at least 2 points from the last game, he will have enough points to make it to Round 2 regardless of the result. Meanwhile, fellow player hahaha3hahaha will require a 1st or 2nd placing to advance to the next round.

Players HaireWolf1, jricart, Kernal_Kronic, and ViperOverLord have a tied total score and scoreline, with their scoreline of 6-3-1 beating danalan and danervinsucks's scoreline of 6-2-2. Thus, the 4 players will be playing a tiebreaker game to determine which of them will be moving on to Round 2. The winner of the tiebreaker will be moving on to Round 2, while the runner up's progress is depending on whether hahaha3hahaha manages to score enough points or not.

Round 2's getting closer people (:

Hi! Thanks for running this tournament - it is fun and in group 1 anyway, very tactical!

Do points carry over in to the next round, or do we all start round 2 at zero again?

Sorry if this is a daft question, but I am not totally sure of the answer.

Many thanks

Glad you're enjoying the tourney so far :D

Thanks for asking the question haha! No, points do NOT carry on to the next round, each player starts the new round on a clean sheet. So basically your performance has to be enough to qualify you to continue for each round. No slacking off and resting on the results from earlier rounds. Hope that clears things up (:

Update

The tiebreaker game ended with ViperOverLord sweeping the rest of the players off their feet, giving jricart the consolation of runner-up in the tie breaker. Thus, ViperOverLord buys himself a spot in Round 2, while jricart's future remains uncertain, lying in the hands of the performance and strategy taken on by the players in Group 1's final game, where a stalemate seems to have taken place yet again.

The only thing between us and the next round is Group 1's final game. Odd to think that a tiebreaker game was completed before the actual round's games eh?
