Making a speed game casual

Post by 0ojakeo0 »

Concise description:
  • When someone has to go you can then make the game casual.
Specifics:
  • Some games go way longer than intended and even upwards towards 4-5 hours and people need to leave.
It would have to be a unanimous descision
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Deadbeating

How often does this come up? Does it come up enough to actually be coded in? Or is it a minor occurrence that has relatively little impact on most people?

Would you similarly want a "convert casual to speed" option as well (provided all participants were Premium)?

It actually isnt a bad idea...the problem is, is people would always disagree when it was going to turn into casual...and those that wanted it to convert, would get mad at those that just wanted to finish it.

Also...many more might join speed, knowing they might not have enough time...and then this problem would be compounded...

When you factor in all of that...it just becomes a messy option, that would not only take a while...but would be ripe with issues, that simply wont be worth it in the end.

Right, does this suggestion (or universally, any suggestion) solve more issues than it creates?

I like the idea, but as AA points out, there would be problems. How many people in the game need to agree to make it a casual game? Maybe after a time limit the option comes up? I would play more speed games if I could make them casual, but that's because I often only can guarantee 30-60 minutes for some speed games. It really limites my options to 1-1 or 4 player esc.

Yup, that's why I rarely play speed, and when I do I make sure it's with settings that will finish in a reasonable time. I guess if you're really concerned about finishing a game, don't play no cards or flat rate games and also keep the player count below 6 as each round can take up to 30 minutes with 6 players.

the long "speed" games are the reason I don't play speed games anymore...but having this as an option would probably cause more issues than it would resolve.
