Well I'm screwed over in one game. I was playing manual deployment and was set up I thought reasonably well in S. America. Red had oceania but he lost a lot of troops taking it. Green went after Europe. Round 1, Red takes Oceania, Green takes Europe, I take S. America without losing any troops so I have 12 troops guarding each border. Second round, Red fortifies oceania and takes all but one territory in Asia, Green attacks me and takes S. Amercia, I spend a lot of troops retaking S. America. Round three, Red takes Asia, Green ignores that fact and makes random attac that doesn't do anything, I make attempt to break Red's Asia's bonus but of course unlike green, I have to move across three territories before I can get to him and by then I've used up almost all three of my troops and they prove not enough and RED STILL HAS ASIA!

Watch Green win this game. He knew you would try to break Red's bonus so he saved his armies and let you bash yours away.

So we are 77 pages from a major landmark in this thread. I feel like we need to have a plan of some kind.

Nope. Even after wasting so many of my troops I still have more htan he does. Between breaking me in SA and attacking one insignificant territory he blew all of his European troops.

Well, he still did the right thing then. If he has many less armies than you it makes sense to conserve his armies knowing that you will weaken yourself and the other guy in the process. Thus balance comes a little closer in the game.
