i just had more really crap dice. And i'm not happy. Lately all that happens when play risk on cc is i get really pissed off, this is not because i lose, i win some and i lose some but because the die annoy me so much And i don't need anymore rubbish about a dice analyzer. It is virtually a useless piece of you know what. Unless it breaks down dice into every game, against every player, totals, averages etc etc it will remain useless.
Displaying all dice rolls in the game log would clear up much grievances.

Yeah, OK. I have a wife and kids. I play CC to relax, have fun, and flex my intellect. If it makes my blood pressure go up, I stop - whatever it is.RenegadePaddy wrote:Why is it whenever something unlucky happens, it has to be broken![]()
Bloody hell, there's some whiny kids on here
The simple point: IT'S NOT FUN. And no, it is not realistic for an army of say... 20,000 to be wiped out by an army of 1,000 - but it happened to me for SIX turns in a row... And in several other games as well. Sure, even though the odds are highly unlikely - any die combination is possible. However, multiply those highly unlikely odds by the number of turns in which they occur, in the number of games that they occur... and then we realize that our SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR isn't powerful enough to enumerate the incomprehensible odds of this happening with real dice.
I don't need this in my life. Am I whining? Or am I presenting my grievance to the powers that be, so that they may address (or not address) them before I give up? I enjoy the game, and the site has promise... But these dice are ridiculous.

Who exactly is talking shit? Remember, I can't see you behind your computer screen over there...khazalid wrote:i suggest you stop talking shit and learn how to play the game if youre growing tired of losing so often. blaming the dice is cheap
And I'm actually winning quite a bit... The only time I loose, is when my army of say... 20, is wiped out by an army of 1... for six turns in a row.
That's like telling the quarterback who just lost the Super Bowl by 5 points - because lightning struck the stadium lights, which caused them to fall directly on the ball as it was flying through the air to his receiver that was wide-open in the end-zone with one second left - to quit whining and learn how to play football.
Take your machismo to the flame-war forum - your inflammatory remarks are irrelevant to the topic.

Also, luck is a factor in any conflict, as much as preparation, logistics, tactics, strategy, etc
Or shit happened. I don't say that to try and wind you up, but the longest odds are still possible - do you play the lottery?Corporate_slave wrote: - but it happened to me for SIX turns in a row... Take a breath chief, it's a game. And a determined opponent who fights to the end, no matter the catastrophes, will always get respect (plus its fun to suddenly smack someone who wasn't bright enough to finish you off!).Corporate_slave wrote:I don't need this in my life. Which is why I've been winning a number of games the last couple of days, much of which is against players with less points than me.gerry22 wrote:The dice are in favour of lower ranks. If you are attacking someone with a lower rank than you it is favour of him.
The only problem I have with the dice is that they are streaky to the point that it would cause a statistician to have an aneurysm.
If some of the bad luck with the dice here could be turned into good luck at picking lottery numbers, we'd have several jackpot winners playing here.
It's that extreme.
Bad die don't necessarily make you lose a game. It just annoys you. Strategy wins 9 times out of 10 but still persists the annoyance of the die.silvanthalas wrote:Which is why I've been winning a number of games the last couple of days, much of which is against players with less points than me.gerry22 wrote:The dice are in favour of lower ranks. True, and I was hoping that you wouldn't bring that up... However, that is ONE battle out of all of history, and THAT is the kind of battle I lost for six turns in a row...RenegadePaddy wrote: *cough* Thermopylae *cough* - and that's just off the top of my head.

Don't get me wrong here... I understand that the dice can yield some crappy results... I figure that, for every army you want to destroy, you will need two to ensure victory. Every once in a while, things won't work out that way. Well... sure, I can resign myself to accept a crappy turn. But SIX? No... I don't think so...

Oh so true...dice, cards spinning discs, whatever the element of randomness there is an element of luck.
Very few games are pure strategy/tactics e.g.:
Chess, go, othello, stratego, draughts (Checkers), chinese checkers
And no matter how long the list of dice rolls you give, EVERY roll is a new roll: 1 in 6 every time of getting six...they don't accumulate!

you're right and that's why the die are so annoying, because if you're a good player and strategist you compensate for the die which means you're fighting and up-hill battle. This means you will lose more than you should and there is nothing worse than losing when you should win especially when some jackass taunts you for it.silvanthalas wrote:Oh please.gerry22 wrote:Bad die don't necessarily make you lose a game.
Risk (and CC) are as much about luck as strategy, if not more so.
You could be the best strategist in the world, but if the dice don't go your way, you will lose.

I love chess, history, details and very thought provoking strategic games.RenegadePaddy wrote:What're you into?gerry22 wrote:What are good wargaming games? I might like'em.RenegadePaddy wrote:![]()

And I think some people need to be taught statistics
For example it would be interesting in risk if the die were dependent on how you play, e.g. the further you move your troops and how often determines how strong the die are for you or vice versa? This would mean that someone who moved troops from Iceland to Ontario via Asia would be penalized especially if they could have gone Greenland, Ontario. A very simple thing but complex in its nature. You could take much much further terrain, weather conditions, moral etc.
I guess that type of thing.
ps. I'm not saying risk should be changed, to do something like this with risk would be really complicated and not for everyone, most people like the simplicity of the game as it is, i like it as it is but it would be an interesting option.

Hmmm, strategy rather than tactics - makes things harder, but I'll see if I can nosey up a few ideas.
Off the top of my head, I've heard good things about (but havn't tried):
Axis & Allies (Wiki link)
Twilight Imperium (Wiki link)
or, if you want to try a tactical miniaures bag, take a look at:
Battlefield Evolution (Wiki link)
Hope that may interest you
