well clapper, I've been around long enough, and I agree with both of these 2 , c.c. should bring back the old feedback system.clapper011 wrote:um..colton how would you even truly know about what feedback is? I fully agree. It was pretty easy to tell who was voicing a legitimate complaint and how was being a jerk before.obliterationX wrote:Feedback sounds great and much less easily abused ( we can't eliminate abuse completely and make an accurate system obviously, but only make abuse much lesser ). Personally, I'm not a fan of ratings, and so I would like to see a Feedback system instated.
That said, the old feedback is not coming back, so ... maybe we could see if we can improve what we can?

I always thought feedback was better. I am not a rude person however, so untill they removed it I never really thought that there might be people flaming in feedback.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
there was one person (don't remeber who) who left somebody a cookie recipie for feedback. the system was a joke, but, as long as it wasn't abused, it was a fun part of the site. once again, abusive idiots ruined something good.
Bring back feedback
Iwould like to see the old feedback system bought back.Tcurrent rating system is floored as in a box that gets ticked is way to harsh sometimes and can be detrimental to your reputation and interpreted in so many ways.At least if you could leave feedback then the interpretation will be defined and you would only take the time to do this if you genuinely have a problem or find someone highly recommendable.I would like to see y they were abusive or rude or so on .It is way to easy to to just tick a box on someone and i knw ive had a couple that say not what it means.eg i got a rude rating in a game i only said good luck in,whereas this person would not take the time to write this in the old feedback system so it therefore would only be genuine comments and explanations.Keep up the great work cc staff.Cheers.

i agree but i doubt it will be done
Re: Bring back feedback
I too was very disappointed at the demise of feedback. Not only was it more informative than ratings it used to give me something to read while I was waiting for my turn.
I loved reading the feedback- particularly the sort of crazy ar$e rants that probably led to its abolition. You can tell pretty quick that the person leaving the negative feedback was a loon an appreciate it for what it is- more often a statement about the person leaving it than the recipient.
Reading that sort of feedback, which while there was plenty of it, was not the norm, gave me the impresion that CC was frequented by more social rejects than any other website. Now I am starting to think that everyone here is a bit more normal. (Lucky we still have in game chat
)
Ah well, one more step along the road to a bland existence.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
Bring it back, and allow us to use linebreaks so I can write proper poems to comment on others.
Serious suggestion.
Reinstate feedback with positive, neutral and negative. Allow people to write a text to comment on the player they're giving feedback. (This is what we used to have)
Here's the new thing: Allow the recipients to delete (NOT edit, though with a short comment as for why the recipient deleted the text of the feedback) the text if they wish to, but have it still count as either positive, negative or neutral for their total number of feedbacks.
This should practically eliminate the workload for the mods since everyone can simply delete what they consider to be flames or spam, at the same time the possibility for everyone else to see whether someone is generally viewed favourably or unfavourably as a player will remain.

Two people posted approvingly and my suggestion seems to be original, so I will bump this and hope it gets some more attention.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
Great idea. Except, what's the point of feedback you can delete if you don't like it? "Oh look, he has all positive feedback" "cause he deletes all the negative feedback".

Re: Reinstate Feedback
Read again, the comments that are posted can be deleted by the person they are about, but it will still count as a positive, negative or neutral feedback.Kotaro wrote:Great idea. So, for example, someone could have 27/8/12, and on the person's feedback page those 12 negatives would read "Comment deleted by user. Reason: Spam/Trolling/Bad Spelling/whatever".
Someone's habit of deleting all negative comments (rather than responding to them) can be as telling as the comments were, but obvious abuse could be dealt with easily and quickly. Since feedback is given on a game-by-game basis the abusers can be foed and their negative feedback will be dwarfed by the positives one receives from normal people. Supposing one is such an awesome person that one gets a lot of positives, that is.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
And then what's the point of feedback? Someone could post "This guy suicides if you don't listen to him", he delete it, and then the entire point of the feedback is null and void. A guy could be a complete dick, and anytime anyone calls him on it in Feedback, he gets rid of it, so that there's only a "Negative", and then it's just as good as this current system - which is shit.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
You're forgetting the other huge advantages:
Regarding your point, I don't know about you, but if I were to see someone with 30 negatives, by different people, that had all been deleted I would think twice about joining a game with them. That would indicate that the person is doing something wrong and can't or won't take criticism. As I said, deleted feedback or comments on feedback can be as telling as the feedback itself.
My proposal would probably force people to interact more if one side feels the feedback is unfair and the other thinks it's warranted, but that's a good thing imo, it gives them a chance to talk about it and figure out who made a mistake (if any was made at all).
- One gets to actually write comments rather than pick from a list of tags.
- Rather than "Excellent" being the average rating for everyone in predetermined categories, people are rated on the overall impression they made, good or bad, neutral for feedback that doesn't quite fit either.
- People have to put in at least a little more effort than with ratings since they have to formulate a sentence (of sorts). A rating of all 5s might be legit or the person is giving everyone that rating in hopes of getting the same in return, but there's no easy way to tell. A copypasta feedback like "Good player, great game" is immediately recognizeable.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
I like this, (not sure it will be implemented, but I do like it). However, I would also like to see the ratings averaged for each user. Before, you could give only 1 positive, but could give negatives and neutrals. Some people used those other just to add more comments.MeDeFe wrote:You're forgetting the other huge advantages:

Re: Reinstate Feedback
I was not around when feedback was originally around (yes, I used the word "around" twice in the same sentence). Anyway, I like these suggestions. If we're voting, I vote to go back to feedback (yes, I used the word "back" twice in the same sentence).

Re: Reinstate Feedback
I am in fact not forgetting the advantages. Looking back at my old feedback, I'd more than welcome a return to the old feedback.
However, I don't believe giving the users the right to moderate their own feedback is the way. The cons of being able to delete any feedback you want is just not, in my opinion, a good idea.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
Do you honestly think the current system is better than running the "risk" of a few people deleting all comments they receive with negative (or positive, or neutral) feedback rather than only the real flames?
I don't think it is.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
From a moderators standpoint, they're just going to bitch in 2 weeks when people complain about deleting real, valid comments, and they'll lock it back down, saying "We're volunteers, we can't be expected to actually moderate our own website!", and this'll all be starting over again. Seeing the feedback back for 2 weeks will just be another bitchslap to the community.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
I think that clearly stating something along the lines of "any comments with the feedback you leave may be deleted at the recipients discretion" should be enough to preempt 90% of all bitching about deleted comments, and pointing it out should take care of 95% of the bitching that actually takes place. In any case there can't be more of it than you already get by people who complain about having received a rating of 3 for being average.
Even if someone makes it their policy to delete all comments they receive with feedback I don't see a problem. Even a thumbs up, thumbs down, thumbs middle system would be preferable to the current system that makes everyone Excellent At Everything.

Re: Reinstate Feedback
I agree it would be better, but if the mods complain about doing something for the site and remove it in 3 days from all the complaints, It'll suck.
In the end, it's lacks decision, and he seems to be more focused on adding more content then fixing the current problems now.
