Yes, I'd say that this new colour scheme for the legends is an improvement. To me, it puts the legends and the map on different layers. Very nice. =D>

OK, Apart from some minor tweaks, i think this one is just about there.
I dont' want to take the graphics any further otherwise it becomes far toobusy.
I've....
1. tidied the soread of the bonus regions
2. added some texture to the sea
3. experiemted with adding another leel background behind the bonus and gameplay section but it is too much.
So here is Version 25.

Maybe make the sea attack lines a little darker, they are really hard to see.

Looks great, love the graphics and the gameplay seems like its gonna be fun. One thing that stands out though is that the text and images in the legend area are real fuzzy. I think it could be the colors used or maybe just the way the file is... not sure. The tet on the actual map is clear and crisp though.

The farms, coins and the leaves of the berries might benefit from a thin black outline... i didn't realize that the farms were there until I looked at the legend.

I don't understand why marlle, maroon town and windsor are a different color. Does it mean something for gameplay? Ah wait... i see it now.

I second the dotted sea attack lines as well.

I think you should keep the names of the ships in one type... IE British and Dutch instead of Britain and Holland... Because I see Spain, France and Portugal which are countries, and British and Dutch which are people. Might I suggest either 'Spain, France, Portugal, Britain, Holland' or 'Spanish, French, Portuguese, British, Dutch' without any mix of both?

Did that make any sense? 8-[

I appreciate you're trying to help I.H.
I'm just disapointed once again like i have been with other maps of mine, that the help has come at a late stage instead of when all this was being sorted. These icons have been on the map for some time but no-one has bothered to visit this map for several pages and several versions. ;) :)

If you are going to use the hyphen I think the country name sounds better... If no hyphen then I think the name of the people there. You're also inconsistent with there being or not being a space between the first word and the hyphen.

I've changed these to Britain and Holland at the front.
Hyphens will have space before and after.

Version 26

I've:
1. changed the sugar icon in the hope that it sticks out a little more.
2. added the 2nd leaf to the coffee icon to help that stick out little more
3. fixed the England, Holland and hyphen things

i don't think the gold coins need any enhancement, and yes i agree that the text is a little fuzzy in the legend but i'm happy with that as it also the font thats gives the flavour of the map that makes it look so.

OK danfrank...let's examine what you've just said.

From Dictionary.com
big⋅ot⋅ry

–noun, plural -ries.
1. stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.
2. the actions, beliefs, prejudices, etc., of a bigot.
Origin:
1665–75; bigot + -ry, formation parallel to F bigoterie

Synonyms:
1. narrow-mindedness, bias, discrimination.

How can the word Slave be bigoted?
Not using the word would be to me politically incorrect, because history tells us that slaves have existed and been part of history for thousands of years.
Even today there is talk amongst the media and big organisations of "child slavery" in some of the everyday material items that we use and consume.

I have the Nazi symbol on Das SchloB, and will not change that regardless of what CC policy is.
Once gain denial does erase what happens in history not matter how politically correct we like to appear.

To answer your question, No. I am not interested in changing the word slave to something that is not what history tells us what occured.

Sorry. :)

EDIT:
Let me clarify my position on the above.

Yes i DO CARE what the CC policy is about Bigorty because the policy stops some nasty people from becoming too over-bearing. bullying and being antogonistic against other players. I fully support this policy.
The Community Guidleines qualify this under

Flames are posts or parts of posts which, directly or indirectly, insult, belittle, bully, name-call, or otherwise attack another user is not allowed.

hide: Flaming Specifics

        * In no circumstances is bigotry allowed.
o Bigotry includes racism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, religion bashing, lack of religion bashing, or wishing violence on any minority group, etc.
o Bigotry takes into account historic events, emotional baggage and generally accepted associations with a term, phrase or intent - posting "White Power" in a thread has a history and is bigoted, posting "Green Power" makes you an environmentalist.
        * It doesn't matter if another user rubs you the wrong way, that's not an excuse to flame or attack them.
        * Attacking a person instead of the user is NOT ok - it's all fun and games until it becomes personal.
o Using a person's real information, picture, address, blog or anything else "personal" is NOT ok.
        * Yes, we are liberal on coarse language, but this does not mean cyber-bullying or abusive bigotry is acceptable anywhere. You will be removed from the community for cyber-bullying or abusive bigotry.

Flaming will get your post edited/deleted and will get you a warning from a mod. Cyber-bullying and abusive bigotry will be removed, and a mod will probably come down on you like a ton of bricks.

I do not see, however, that the historical use of such words as Slave is bigoted when it's used in this historical context to display the history of Jamiaca on a map. Even that is recognised on many of the internet sites from Jamaica itself where this promoted as part of tourism. :)

I don't think it really is bigoted at all. For one thing, de jure or de facto ownership of other people has been (and sadly is) a reality over pretty much the entire span of human history and, and that's simply the word that describes this condition. For another, I think you'll find that people of almost every nation, region, and color have been held as slaves at some point in history.

Clearly no one here is condoning slavery -- I know I for one will avoid that bonus if I can help it -- but the term itself is both historical and correct.

first pass at the xml is complete

Map Maker - http://www.conquerclub.com/mapmaker/index.php
XML - http://www.bigottergames.com/downloads/jamaicaV26.xml
Small - http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s282 ... a_V26S.jpg
Large - http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s282 ... a_V26L.jpg

First glance at the map and it looks like the armies are centered in the circles =)

Summary: 0 errors and 0 warnings detected in jamaicaV26.xml (33 continents, 52 territories)

Mouse-over check of connections looks right.
