Galactic Alliance – Mixed Triples

Original Scenario
With the Galactic Federation seriously weakened by the Andomedan War, a number of independent planets have amassed forces as a Galactic Civil War threatens to break out.
Typically, the major empires of the independent planets are forming alliances in an attempt to defend their planet. Some are preparing to attack and gain whatever advantage they may find amongst the inter-stellar anarchy. Some of the wiser amongst the rulers are planning their warfare strategy to take ultimate advantage from the situation and eventually lead their planet to Galactic rule.
This is a Triples tournament, with 6 teams (18 players in total). If recruitment shows major interest very quickly then I may expand to 12 teams (with an initial planetary warfare stage where two alliances battle for planetary control).
The Alliances
As each planet’s alliance combines the forces of empires of varying military strength, each team must be a mix of players as follows:
- (1) Maximum of one triples gold medal holder (unlimited points) - This could be a silver or bronze medal player if you wish.
(2) One triples bronze or silver medal holder with a maximum of 1999 points.
(3) One triples bronze medal holder (or player with no triples medal) and a maximum of 1599 points.
Players should join as a team (although players are welcome to post if they wish to arrange an alliance themselves). When posting to join, each team member’s points total and triples medal status should also be posted. Status at time of sign-up is only relevant - any changes in rank/achievement of medals after sign-up do not affect eligibility.
Each team should also indicate where their alliance is based:

6 Volcanus (The map for this planet is known as Archipelago) - Selected

Details:
Initial Battles of the Galactic War:
Two groups of three teams (determined by random.org)
Three planets will each attempt to infiltrate and conquer another planet to develop their power.
Each team will therefore play 2 matches (1 attacking another planet, and one defending their own – again, determined by random.org).
Two planets will survive.
In the event that all three planetary alliances are successful in one battle then the planets surviving this phase of the Galactic Civil War will be determined by the last two surviving in an attempt made by all 3 to subjugate and control a neutral planet*. This battle would be conducted by 2 of the 3 members of each planetary alliance.
*The neutral planet will be the planet not selected by any of the 6 teams.
Secondary Battles of the Galactic War:
Winners of each group will play the runners-up from the other group, best-of-3.
In order to gain further power and supremacy, surviving alliances will attempt to take control of one another’s planets as well as one of the weakened Federation’s two Command Centre Computer Complexes - huge systems, each controlling many aspects of the galactic colonies, even the climate of several planets. Developed from centuries of study of the human brain, the complexes are otherwise known as 8 Thoughts.
Ultimate Battles of the Galactic War:
The two semi-final winning teams will play one another, again, best-of-3.
With the Federation failing to re-establish its power, the remaining alliances will attempt to defeat one another’s base planet and gain control of the galaxy (Space Map).
The winners of these battles will have established enough power to gain control as a new Galactic Alliance.
