Hi,
it would be nice if I can click on a line in the game log and may be able to see the game on that date in the map...
Like the wikipedia history on the articles.
Even in sunny games it would make it easier to analyze games afterwards...

Interesting idea, but my guess is this would be impossibly hard to code, and storing all that data would be a mess.
I hope I'm wrong, and it's really easy, then I'm all for it!

Re: History in Game Log
Currently this is not possible on the site itself, because all of the information is not recorded in the gamelog. This was promised to us in the form of Game Log 2.0 back in 2006 but I'm not sure if that game log change will ever be unveiled.
In the mean time, your best bet is to use BOB (see Plug ins and Add ons if you don't have it). On the left hand menu there is an option to take snapshots of a game. This records an image of the map at any round, but you have to record them manually. It is very useful for fog of war games though because it helps you to remember info you can no longer see!

Or you can not ruin your MF/computer with BOB and just take screen shots and label them in the title of the image.sully800 wrote:Currently this is not possible on the site itself, because all of the information is not recorded in the gamelog. Not to take things too off topic, but how did BOB ruin your computer? I've never heard of such a problem before.Strife wrote:Or you can not ruin your MF/computer with BOB and just take screen shots and label them in the title of the image.sully800 wrote:Currently this is not possible on the site itself, because all of the information is not recorded in the gamelog. And trust me, I took plenty of screen shots before the snap shot feature was available. I have folders full of World 2.1 screen shots when FOW first came out.

Re: History in Game Log
It completely ruined my old laptop, FireFox would(Will) no longer run properly or at all until I removed it, it hasn't been the same since. I was not able to enter games properly and it would take ridiculous amounts of time to be able to take a turn. Not only that but it was affecting every site I would visit, but I.E. worked fine on it. It would only freeze up and stop responding when I would initiate Firefox. So, I learned my lesson for downloading toolbars from not-trusted sources and will never do so with my desktop.sully800 wrote:Not to take things too off topic, but how did BOB ruin your computer?
