IMPORTANT! Suggestion for the new reserve spot feature

Post by laddida »

Concise description:
  • I would like a pm sent to me if the person i invited rejected my invite cause i was un aware of the rejection until some random people that i didnt really want in the game joined up. Also maybe in italics show who it is you have reserved the spot for. After reserving quite a few games i kinda got my teams mixed up as well in which games i wanted them in. Also there should be a feature where you pick 3 names and you get the choice to add those 3 partners to multiple games without having to re choose them for every game. Just a thought, this feature is really really nice though :)

ps- also maybe 48 hours instead of 24? just incase that person invited doesnt see the pm or were in a hurry and dont read the pms... it happens not the only one to have a reserved spot not takin in time and someone else joined at first i didnt even know it was only 24 hours thought i had longer.

It was brought up and i thought it was a good idea if someone rejects or doesnt join in time the spot should stay reserved and a pm sent asking would you like to reserve this spot for another player before opening it up to the public.

This improves this obviously by avoiding random players that you do not want to be on your team. Also gives you a chance to invite someone else before your game is open to public and a warning that your game is going to be open to public before random people start jumping on your team. Also makes it easier to invite your friends into multiple games.

Me too. It would stop people randomly inviting others into tournament games (!) ...yes it happened in one of my tournaments the other day

It beats having to invite them each time for each game. Good suggestions Laddi.

Also another thing, I made a public 8 man casual single's game and 6 of 8 slots were filled and two random ones were reserved ( I wanna say yellow and gray were open). When I saw this I dropped the game, first thing that came to mind was multi's or inviting a buddy of his to play ( secret alliance) ... however innocent it may or may not have been, I was quite paranoid. To my point, I don't see the need for the reserve feature in a multi-player public single's game.

If tournament players are abusing this by inviting others who are not a part of the tournament, feel free to inform me. I'll make sure they don't do it again.

Thanks NS, I think it was a slight misunderstanding this time, I'm guessing maybe the language barrier (the player isn't from an English-speaking country) but if it happens again I'll let you know :D

I'll mark the multiple invite form as to-do. The notification of someone rejecting an invite is trickier because we don't store who sends the invites and I'd like to avoid storing that if possible for technical reasons, but it will be considered. I think 24 hours is a fair balance between the invitee and the public who might also want to get in, but if most people feel otherwise I could reconsider.

P.S. It makes it easier if you keep 1 suggestion per topic. Thanks :)

so i gotta make like 4 topics to throw out all my thoughts? interesting :-P Also notifcations arent needed if somehow random public people cant join for a certain amount of time for you to invite someone else after someone rejects the invite. If im not on to see the rejected invite i get a cook who deadbeats on my team not fair and its happening all over the place.

You have been patient since 1985 for the bears so give the turtle a little more time.

Maybe when you reserve a spot it can give a 1st choice, 2nd choice and 3rd choice for reserving that spot for.

yeah but would it not send a pm invite to that 2nd person till after the 1st person rejects or would it still have to send a pm to all 3. But i like where ur going with it not a bad idea at all. Something that maybe they can work with. And bears will win a superbowl within the next 3 years :-P

In fact, I would like to see this capability REMOVED for tournament games for anyone other than the tournament organizer. It happened to my tournament, as well.
