The irony is most of those reponders probably already have "socialized healthcare" .. either in the form of an HMO (which mimic socialized medicine, but puts the profits in the pockets of executives instead of taxpayers), or in the form of medicare.Mr_Adams wrote:So, I was browsing the internet and saw that a poll on facebook shows that 75.7% of facebookers are against Obama's socialized healthcare. 20.9% are for, and 3.4% are undecided. taxpayers have never been paid profits on anything ever... ever. they, we never will.PLAYER57832 wrote:The irony is most of those reponders probably already have "socialized healthcare" .. either in the form of an HMO (which mimic socialized medicine, but puts the profits in the pockets of executives instead of taxpayers), or in the form of medicare.Mr_Adams wrote:So, I was browsing the internet and saw that a poll on facebook shows that 75.7% of facebookers are against Obama's socialized healthcare. 20.9% are for, and 3.4% are undecided. True, but a technicality, because what would be profit for a private corporation is simply a reduction in cost for taxpayers.King Berzerker wrote:taxpayers have never been paid profits on anything ever... ever. they, we never will.PLAYER57832 wrote:The irony is most of those reponders probably already have "socialized healthcare" .. either in the form of an HMO (which mimic socialized medicine, but puts the profits in the pockets of executives instead of taxpayers), or in the form of medicare.Mr_Adams wrote:So, I was browsing the internet and saw that a poll on facebook shows that 75.7% of facebookers are against Obama's socialized healthcare. 20.9% are for, and 3.4% are undecided. false cuz government ALWAYS overpays for stuff... like how they recently bought a bunch of ham for 1.50 a pound when the going rate in the supermarket is 89 cents. leave it to the government to get the antibulk ratePLAYER57832 wrote:True, but a technicality, because what would be profit for a private corporation is simply a reduction in cost for taxpayers.King Berzerker wrote:taxpayers have never been paid profits on anything ever... ever. they, we never will.PLAYER57832 wrote:The irony is most of those reponders probably already have "socialized healthcare" .. either in the form of an HMO (which mimic socialized medicine, but puts the profits in the pockets of executives instead of taxpayers), or in the form of medicare.Mr_Adams wrote:So, I was browsing the internet and saw that a poll on facebook shows that 75.7% of facebookers are against Obama's socialized healthcare. 20.9% are for, and 3.4% are undecided. And yes, government gives us plenty of those.
If that were true, then military commissaries wouldn't be the tremendous bargain for military personnel that they are.King Berzerker wrote: false cuz government ALWAYS overpays for stuff... like how they recently bought a bunch of ham for 1.50 a pound when the going rate in the supermarket is 89 cents. leave it to the government to get the antibulk rate
good point... but wut about all the other stuff they overpay for?Woodruff wrote:If that were true, then military commissaries wouldn't be the tremendous bargain for military personnel that they are.King Berzerker wrote: false cuz government ALWAYS overpays for stuff... like how they recently bought a bunch of ham for 1.50 a pound when the going rate in the supermarket is 89 cents. leave it to the government to get the antibulk rate
I've actualy become fond of the picture. it is humorous.luns101 wrote:I love Mr. Adam's new avatar!
actually as i think about this isnt the px a private company that moves retail to military personell with exclusive rights to base access?Woodruff wrote:If that were true, then military commissaries wouldn't be the tremendous bargain for military personnel that they are.King Berzerker wrote: false cuz government ALWAYS overpays for stuff... like how they recently bought a bunch of ham for 1.50 a pound when the going rate in the supermarket is 89 cents. leave it to the government to get the antibulk rate
For what its worth, this is every system that uses any type of taxation with government programs paid for by them. The usage of words is central to how the debate is seen, so it is essential that no matter what side you take, you understand where your words come from and what they mean.Mr_Adams wrote:and what would you have me call the redistribution of wealth through taxes and government benifits? Or how they gave Halliburton a monopoly in Iraq, paying them billions when they should've been sued for poisoning, dehydrating, and electrocuting the soldiers there.King Berzerker wrote:false cuz government ALWAYS overpays for stuff... like how they recently bought a bunch of ham for 1.50 a pound when the going rate in the supermarket is 89 cents. leave it to the government to get the antibulk ratePLAYER57832 wrote:True, but a technicality, because what would be profit for a private corporation is simply a reduction in cost for taxpayers.King Berzerker wrote:taxpayers have never been paid profits on anything ever... ever. they, we never will.PLAYER57832 wrote:The irony is most of those reponders probably already have "socialized healthcare" .. either in the form of an HMO (which mimic socialized medicine, but puts the profits in the pockets of executives instead of taxpayers), or in the form of medicare.Mr_Adams wrote:So, I was browsing the internet and saw that a poll on facebook shows that 75.7% of facebookers are against Obama's socialized healthcare. 20.9% are for, and 3.4% are undecided. The BX/PX is a private company, but that's not associated with the Commissary. The Commissaries are run by the Defense Commissary Agency.King Berzerker wrote:actually as i think about this isnt the px a private company that moves retail to military personell with exclusive rights to base access?Woodruff wrote:If that were true, then military commissaries wouldn't be the tremendous bargain for military personnel that they are.King Berzerker wrote: false cuz government ALWAYS overpays for stuff... like how they recently bought a bunch of ham for 1.50 a pound when the going rate in the supermarket is 89 cents. leave it to the government to get the antibulk rate
i think that they cant be thought of in the same way that the rest of the government can because they have to sell stuff more cheeper than walmart or people wont shop there. but when the gov buys as a consumer, they mostly always overspent the money.Woodruff wrote:The BX/PX is a private company, but that's not associated with the Commissary. And yet you apparently trust the government to run a complex healthcare system. This always baffles me. Conservatives see no problem with Haliburton (or any other government contracts doled out by President Bush) while having a major problem with universal healthcare. Liberals have a big problem with President Bush in general, but are vehemently in favor of universal healthcare.InkL0sed wrote:Or how they gave Halliburton a monopoly in Iraq, paying them billions when they should've been sued for poisoning, dehydrating, and electrocuting the soldiers there.
But the statement was that the government ALWAYS overpays for stuff. That's simply not the case. I'm not saying that military acquisition hasn't had problems...it absolutely has. However, the incidents that have happened get all the publicity (talking about buying things for good prices just doesn't make the news, you know...), which makes people think it happens far more often than it actually does.King Berzerker wrote:i think that they cant be thought of in the same way that the rest of the government can because they have to sell stuff more cheeper than walmart or people wont shop there. but when the gov buys as a consumer, they mostly always overspent the money.Woodruff wrote:The BX/PX is a private company, but that's not associated with the Commissary. To me that picture is almost a parody of itself. I wouldn't be surprised if it was intended to be sarcastic. I mean if you disagree with something, that's fine. But if I lay out a universal health care plan to somebody, and their best rebuttal is "well, that's all well and good, but it's SOCIALISM!", I would immediately discount their opinion, as they're a knee-jerk reactionary moron.King Berzerker wrote:Frigidus wrote:I'm for universal health care.
