We have given this a lot of thought and consideration and agree that Flame Wars no longer fits into the future vision for the site. It was becoming more clear that the flames were spilling out of that forum and taking up more moderation time to sort out.
We were also concerned about the unfriendly atmosphere this was generating for new people. I realise this will be an unpopular move with some of you, but I can assure you a lot of thought has gone into this.
Peace & Love will also be removed very shortly, that was fun while it lasted

Bring Back Flame Wars
Concise description:
- Bring Back Flame Wars
- Purely for the flaming of a certain couple of relatively new members who incessantly post about:
- Being Insulted
- Potentially Leaving
- Crazy Voting Ideas
- Other intensely annoying garbage that noone cares about or wants to see
- Hopefully these people will actually leave like they keep saying they will
Important Tournament Notice
The data for ALL of my tournaments has potentially been lost. I am working to recover it but as I am away on business all of this week, there will be some delay. Sincere apologies.

I'm not surprised at the suggestion, just at the one making the suggestion.
Thanks, Tupence!

Re: Bring Back Flame Wars
Simply put the admins decided to ditch Flame Wars and they were going to do it no matter what, the official reason was to take CC in a new, more family friendly direction, or so we are told by this bloke called Hyasri(No, I don't really remember him either.
) Apparently Hyasri stepped in to the role of community manager to replace Twill after he retired from active duty.
Personally I just think the official reason was an excuse/cover to get rid of Flame Wars, I'd hedge my bets that the real reason for getting rid of Flame Wars was because of an outside stimulus. Much like the Classic Art or Classic Shapes substitution for the Classic map was improvised as a response to the Hasbro lawsuit.
I'd like to see Flame Wars come back, that way I can go back to lambasting my opponents in the designated forum as well as in the game. Particularly the one's who deserve an extra large helping of verbal lashing.

I can't imagine what sort of outside stimulus could have had any effect on Flame Wars. But yes, I wish they would bring it back.

Flamewars needs to be reinstated
I have noticed an increase in flaming over the last few weeks across CC. It is prevalent in game chat, in Turtle soup and even in General Discussion. There is only one logical conclusion to this - since flamewars was removed the lesser beings who frequented there have come to OUR fora to pollute and desecrate them.
We've tried banning principle members of this group in the hope that this would quieten them down. However, if anything it seems to have stirred up a hornets nest. I see no signs of this dissipating, and if anything, foresee it getting worse.
Following the argument presented above we can reach only one conclusion - the removal of FW was a terrible mistake. The only way to rectify this situation is to reinstate it in the hopes of removing those individuals from OUR fora, allowing us to continue OUR discussions in peace.
Regards,
Xela

Re: Flamewars needs to be reinstated
Due to the recency of the increase in flaming, it seems to me that the logical conclusion as to the cause is the banning of Dancing Mustard, rather than the removal of FlameWars. Otherwise, the increase wouldn't have been so recent.xelabale wrote:I have noticed an increase in flaming over the last few weeks across CC. Subject: spam spam and more spam
Bringing back Flame Wars will improve the following:
EDIT: I hasten to add that the poll for thread Subject: spam spam and more spam indicates that popular public opinion is in favour of reinstating Flame Wars.
As per the above invitation.
Bringing back Flame Wars will improve the following:
- Allow the quick surgical removal of threads and/or posts that descend into Flaming/Trolling from the other forums where they have no place.
- Allow our more hot tempered players to let off steam without fear of falling under the ban hammer(a lot healthier for Lacks business than perma-banning paying customers)
- Give us the option to take a lot of the tell-tale-tit telling that is currently going on in C&A and just let the protagonists have it out with each other away from the much more civil forums.

Re: Bring back Flame Wars
I think placing some sort of a tag under the topic name in the forum a moved thread formerly occupied is an acceptable way of keeping folks from accidentally being drawn into FlameWars through a "moved topic" (maybe make the notice colored, so it stands out). That should make it easy enough to see. This would really eliminate the largest complaint with FlameWars that I've heard, which was that folks didn't realize they were even IN FlameWars at times.Artimis wrote:As per the above invitation.AndyDufresne wrote:Collected 'Bring Back Flame Wars' Suggestions for those interested.
