A better rating system - the KISS rating system

At CC there has been two ratings systems:

• The feedback system, highly enjoyed, which gave players the option of flaming to their hearts content game after game.
• The ratings system, which gives everyone the option of ignoring the point of the system and simply choosing one of two responses.

The feedback system, enjoyed by many, is due to come back when they reinstate Flame Wars, but in the meantime we are stuck with the ratings system. The complexity of the system, with it's 3 different ratings, 5 stars for each rating, and big words with confusing tick box locations a la Floridian ballots, are beyond the comprehension of the average CCer. Most CC users only choose one of three options anyway: 5 stars, 1 star, or they can't locate the ratings link in the first place.

I have devised a system that fully incorporates these 3 choices, is easy to understand, and will result in zero complaints. I have stripped away all the guff and, furthermore, rendered the "[respond]" link obselete and pointless.

I bring you the KISS ratings system:

I admit, I'm having a bit of fun with it, but in all honesty, this would solve a hell of a lot of problems. The feedback system IMO was great, but that had to go. The ratings system is an attempt to put something in that has a lot of options, but it didn't pass the litmus test, and now it's gone haywire. Strip the lot back, make it bare-bones, then build on solid foundations, that's the way to go...

Absolutely...I'd already suggested this (not in it's own thread). This is precisely how officers are rated in the Air Force...up or down.

The fundamental problem with that is, it doesn't rate the player. It just tells "You" whether or not "You" rocks or sucks. I don't see this as helpful at all, especially since there isn't even a user with the username "You." This ultimately fails, nice try though. This idea might be useful in the future, maybe a button that say's "'*****' rocks/sucks".

It rates the overall impression the player made on one. Good or bad. More positives than negatives would indicate a likeable player, more negatives than positives an arsehole, and some of both... maybe an interesting player.
