Initech Invitational IV: Europe [Winner: mzomboracz001]

Postby Peter Gibbons on Thu Jul 02, 2009 6:17 pm

JULY 20th EDIT: Since we had trouble getting to 36 players, I've capped entries at 30 players and slightly altered the format--changes are now indicated below in this post.

Think it's about time to start recruiting for the fourth incarnation of the Initech series. This one is somewhat similar to Initech III but in Europe. All pertinent details follow.

OVERVIEW
3-round, 81-game tournament. All players guaranteed six games. Max games for an individual player is 17. Games will vary between 3-player, 5-player and 4-player games.

ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
Premium only, sorry. You'll need more than 4 games open at all times.

RULES
All games will be Sequential, Chained, Flat Rate, Foggy
The first round will be a mix of standard and assassin on 3-player games.
The second round will be a mix of standard and terminator on 5-player games.
The final round will be one standard 4-player game.

MAPS
There will be fourteen (14) European maps used. The breakdown is as follows:

First Round : San Marino, Ireland, Luxembourg [each map will be played twice--once as standard, once as assassin]

Second Round: BeNeLux, British Isles, Germany, Malta and Portugal will be played as standard. Ancient Greece, France, Iberia, Italy and Scotland will be played as terminator.

Final Round: Europa

POINT SYSTEM
Throughout the entire tournament, the following point system will be utilized:
Each Assassin map win will be worth 10 points.
Each Standard map win will be worth 15 points.
Each Terminator map win will be worth 5 points, with each elimination (including the final one) being worth 2 points.

ROUNDS
The First Round will consist of ten 3-player groups. Each group will play six games (3 standard, 3 assassin) and only the group winner advances.

The Semifinal Round will consist of two 5-player groups.
Each group will play 10 games (5 standard, 5 terminator). The top two in each group advance to the finals.

The Final Round will consist of 4 players. There will be one standard game. The winner of the game is tournament champion.

SEEDINGS
Once I have 30 entrants, I will divide everyone into three pots by points/rank. One person from each pot will randomly go into each first round group.

TIEBREAKERS
The first tiebreaker will be standard map wins in the round in question. Second tiebreaker will be standard map wins for the duration of the tournament. Third tiebreaker will be a head-to-head game on Luxembourg--standard with all other tournament settings.

Good luck to those that join and feel free to post or PM any questions you might have.

Yeah it's only the small maps and with 3-person games, so it shouldn't be too bad... no worse than terminator in fog. I've learned my lesson from the last tournament.

Important Tournament Notice

The data for ALL of my tournaments has potentially been lost. I am working to recover it but as I am away on business all of this week, there will be some delay. Sincere apologies.
