the tourney organizer is unresponsive -- but the tourney is clearly over, and there is a clear winner...

Jweezy, he's referring to The Cold War tournament of yours. It will be YOUR fault if he doesn't receive a medal. It is your responsibility as the organizer to announce a winner when the tournament is completed. If you do not do so, then he will not receive a medal and YOU will receive an abandoned tournament mark. It's how the system works.

The organizer MUST have announced the winner in some way. If someone approaches a Tournament Director claiming to have won a tournament where the organizer didn't officially declare a winner, then it does not count.

This place used to be such a great place but for a while now there are more negative feelings and posts in these forums than positive ones. TDs should try to make this place a better one, more (user) friendly, help out in every way possible but this is just bs and the "political correctness" or whatever you are trying follow here is... Anyway, you know that in the end you'll declare Barry Zuckerkorn the winner of the tournament and he will get the earned win - it has been done like that before (Hall of Fame is proof for that) and I'm sure you and other other TDs are not complete jerks.

We are aware that sometimes this means a tournament will fall by the wayside, but we are willing to do whatever we can to help you begin a tournament anew under your name.

I previously argued that the TD's should actually have this power, especially if the player has left CC. As a TO, you've given up your right to ownership in this case. This policy should be looked at.

However, on a legal technicality, it does not say that an Admin cannot grant privileges. Hence, and admin could allow a TD take it on and see it to completion.

No, just finding the holes in text. I spent 3 years for a Legal Regulatory organization, and it's incredibly tough to write legal documents. That's why we have judges to decide spirit vs letter.

In that case when do we vote for a new parlement

In case it is in fact a normal company then just somebody takes a decision and that is it Would save us a lot of legal people and judges

My opinion is spirit of the law for this case. If the information in the tournament thread or elsewhere can verify that the winner of said game is indeed the champion of the tournament, then just roll with it.

However, the Tournament Directors have final say in the matter.

Based on the thread link and the game posted above and jumping to the same thread, and an overall look at game finder for that tournament tag, all indications are that his statements are true and that he is indeed the winner.

Just curious, why didn't you get him to just make a post in the actual tournament thread saying who the winner was? It's a waste of time to post in this thread and keep it going when all that has to be done for the whole situation to dissolve is for a post from the organizer in the tournament thread announcing the winner. I would have gotten the organizer to come and make that post rather than the one here.

FYI, I think I've already come up with a solution to this if the organizer doesn't show back up in the next several days. We'll see what happens I guess.
